Re: Oral device for flights

Thanks. My research is showing me that there's no quick, cheap, and easy device that I can buy over-the-counter that will be of much help on a flight. Given that, does anyone out there have any tips for being more comfortable napping/sleeping on a long flight? For that matter, does sleeping sitting ...

Re: help me understand what he's goin thru

I'm glad that your significant other is looking forward to getting started. From my perspective as a 3+ year veteran of CPAP, I suspect he'll eventually reach a place where the CPAP is just part of the bedtime equipment and routine, like using a blanket and pillow and wearing pajamas. And he'll prob...

Oral device for flights

Hello all - I've got a series of international flights coming up, and I was wondering if anyone out there has found an oral device that will work as an alternative to a CPAP for these types of situations. Of course, I bring my CPAP with me everywhere, but it's not feasible (or even possible) to plug...

Re: Titration or straight to auto-adjusting CPAP?

Thanks Pugsy - I should've been clearer: if we do decide to go straight to CPAP (actually APAP, I guess) at home and skip the titration we would of course buy an auto-adjusting machine. She was very uncomfortable in the lab, so I think it might be better to just have the machine pick the right setti...

Titration or straight to auto-adjusting CPAP?

Hi - It looks like my wife may be joining me on CPAP (I'm a veteran of over 4 weeks on the hose!) She just had a sleep study, with the following diagnostic numbers: AHI: 19 (pretty much all hypopneas) Sleep efficiency: 55% Lowest O2 saturation: 94% Apnea index: 0% Here's our dilemma: they tried to t...

Re: Musculoskeletal Aches and Pains

I've been on CPAP for 5 nights now, and I too have noticed a significant improvement in a few nagging aches and pains. In particular, after a fall skiing in late February I had either fractured or badly bruised some ribs, and they were taking their sweet time clearing up. Last night, when I rolled o...

Catching up on sleep deficit - what was your experience?

Hi - Now that I'm a veteran of 2 nights on CPAP, I was curious about everyone's experiences catching up on their sleep deficits, especially during the first few days & weeks. Did you sleep more than pre-therapy? When you got acclimated, did your overall hours drop (since your sleep quality was so mu...

New user/first night experience

Hi everyone - I had an eventful day yesterday: 1. I got the preliminary results from my sleep study. 2. I discovered this site! 3. I purchased the Respironics Pro S1. Before I describe my first night with the device, a little bit about me: 1. I’m a 49-year-old male. 2. I’m 5’7”, 180 pounds, and woul...
