Re: Question on storing distilled water
Coming from a Biologist, this isn't a question for a chemist! 1. The quantity of minerals in water is infinitesimal compared to what we get from our diet. Absolutely no harm will come from eliminating that source. 2. As far as leaching minerals from the body, this is patently false and sounds like ...

Re: Question on storing distilled water
Actually, common sense needs to apply here. Normal "emergency" water supplies are supposed to last for up to 72 hours in an emergency. Where you are that is typically 1gal of water per person per day. Here in the desert I would double that and ANY clean uncontaminated water works just fine for that...

Re: Question on storing distilled water
Distilled water is not suitable for drinking water. The lack of minerals in it will pull minerals from your body and, if enough is consumed, will eventually kill you if it is all you drink. Boiling water to kill bacteria in it is different from distilling water for purification. Coming from a chemi...

Re: Question on storing distilled water
Hi all, Maybe I should just repurpose the distilled water in the large container as emergency drinking water? ! Distilled water is not suitable for drinking water. The lack of minerals in it will pull minerals from your body and, if enough is consumed, will eventually kill you if it is all you drin...

Re: FlashPAP Java Wireless WiFi SDCard Transfer - Win/Mac/Linux
In both of my S9 machines, an error message displays, " Invalid SD card, erase card data? Yes/No?" FlashPAP tells me my machine "Could not find expected folder" -- e.g., a "Datalog" folder in one response, a "P-series" folder in another. Not surprising as neither machine wants to recognize or write...

Re: nearly new ASV settings
[ well, we've both got experience first hand with the adapts, pugsy's been using one, and I take care of a friend who uses one....they're very nice machines... pretty simple to set, and very automatic afterwards Automatic is correct. Personally I have found the best results by only really setting E...

Re: nearly new ASV settings
If your CPAP pressure has been at 8 cm and it has been taking care of your OA's, you are likely going to want to set your EPAP at 8, as well. The 36007 does not have the auto-EPAP, so it will not increase in pressure if you start having OA's. PSmin of 5 might be too uncomfortable and unnecessary. I ...

Re: Does the Airfit F10 vent excessively ?
Hmmmmmm, that is very interesting that there was a 50% difference between two masks. (more than a little alarming too ! ) you could have gotten a bad one. I'm fairly certain my first one was a bad one. My new one is dead on with the leak rate as published by ResMed. Since I had a great seal (thanks...

Re: Resmed ASV -- help with first sleepy head report?
ephraimh, What model ASV do you have? 36037 or 36007? It will say on the back of your blower unit. If you have the 36037, you may want to try it in ASVAuto mode as that will allow EPAP to to increase to treat any obstructive apneas/hypopneas that may not be treated at your current static EPAP pressu...

Re: Does the Airfit F10 vent excessively ?
I am on my second F10 and the leak rate on my first was about 50% higher than on my second. In fact, my first would give large leak flags at higher pressures regularly. My second has yet to give me a large leak flag at all. I never really did any troubleshooting on my first mask, but I figured the e...

Switching from PRS1 50 to Resmed S9 H5i - Humidifier ?
As soon as my ClimateLine tubing comes in, I will be making my 4 year old PRS1 950 ASV my backup machine and putting into daily use a Resmed S9 VPAP Adapt acquired recently with 0 hours on it. My question for those who have used both manufacturers machines (not specific to ASV) surrounds where to st...

Re: sleep apnea and nyquil
NyQuil has doxylamine succinate in it, an antihistamine/hypnotic that is the main ingredient in Unisom. You could always try Unisom by itself to see if it has the same effect. Unisom is claimed by the manifacturer to be non-habit forming, but who knows.

Re: Question about Kaiser Device Options
I have no complaints on my current ResMed S9 setup so I'll continue to use it. Just an idea: if your S9 is getting up there in hours of usage, you may want to consider making that your back-up machine and use your new PRS1 560 as your daily machine. This way you can have a reliable back-up if anyth...

Re: PR ASV auto "OFF" feature?
No auto off on the 950 or 960 ASV's. Why not? Well, one of the main functions of the ASV is to trigger breaths when you aren't spontaneously breathing. Auto Off would most likely interfere with this important function or cause more machine complexity than it is worth. If you aren't breathing, the la...
