Re: Troubleshooting with an H5i humidifier
Replaced the SD card and all seems to be working normally. What I would like to figure out is whether the SD card went bad and caused the humidifier to malfunction or whether the excessive heat from the humidifier going crazy caused the SD card to go bad. Given the resolution I seem to have achieved...

Re: Troubleshooting with an H5i humidifier
Thanks for the reply, but I'm pretty sure there's more to it than that. For one thing, the SD card suddenly now has an invalid card error and for another, there was an interlude of about 16 hours between when I had shut it off and when I discovered the HOT water in the humidifier - we're talking alm...

Troubleshooting with an H5i humidifier
Hi all, I'm hoping I can get some quick feedback on this. I operate a ResMed S9 Elite with H5i humidifier unit attached. Usually when I shut the machine off in the morning it goes through a fairly extensive cool-down process - continuing to blow air through the humidifier at a low pressure to help t...

Re: How does this look?
It might help if we had headings visible for each of the columns in your data picture. I'm also a bit confused by the bottom section where it appears that you have 4 different sessions all within the same day, some of which are overlapping. Not sure what's going on there, but something seems a bit f...

Re: Unwanted and unused Swift FX Nasal pillows
I'm always on the look out for size M pillows, but I don't think I have anything to trade at the moment. My regular supplier was nice enough to only send the proper size pillows with each shipment, so I only have the size I need.

Re: What do you do when you are tired at work?
I also eat lots of chocolates and drink a soda for a boost of energy. But it doesn't last long either. My AHI is usually under 2. The reason I sleep 7 hours or less is because sometimes I have trouble falling asleep. I have read here many times that CPAPers should take all caffeine out of their die...

Re: What's wrong with using tap water?
My one foray into using tap water resulted in speedy growth of fuzzy things in the tank (and presumably the hose as well). It's the only time I've ever had anything like that happen, even though I rarely wash my tank and hose (every few months-ish). Distilled water does the job quite nicely. It cost...

Re: Stuff my DME told me
I am in a position where, due to location (middle of nowhere), there is only one DME close enough to do business with. Sadly, though it is a national company, the local office is highly incompetent. I was really glad that I did my research well (much thanks to this site and my fellow members) becaus...

Re: POLL: How effective is your therapy?
I recently had the opportunity to experience life without xPAP - the first time in about 3+ years - due to power failure associated with a big storm in the middle of the night. I am amazed at how much of a difference it makes in my life! Usually I put the mask on, turn off the light and I might have...

Re: What Services would you like an Online DME to provide
Interesting that you would highlight automated renewals. That's something I would take advantage of as well, partially because my DME does this already and I find it very convenient. They give me a call every month to tell me what I'm eligible for and get permission to ship it all or some subset the...

Re: Humidifer Maintenance
Maintenance can be a pain, BUT, it doesn't need to be. If you use distilled water you can avoid cleaning the humidifier. Rinse it maybe a couple times a month. The hose doesn't need cleaning...if it makes you feel better rinse it out once in a while. The mask is the only thing that may need cleanin...

Re: Loss of smell and horrible taste/smell in mouth and nose
On the subject of loss of sense of smell, do you have routine sinus problems that you treat with some type of nasal spray? My dad has been a daily user of Afrin (I think that's the stuff) for decades to help relieve chronic stuffiness and/or drippage and, as a result, has almost no sense of smell le...

Re: THE GREAT PILLOW EXCHANGE
I'm a little confused. I'm still fairly new to the nasal pillow scene, so please excuse my ignorance. When you order a new set of pillows from your DME do you always get one of each of three sizes? The reason I ask is that when I get resupplied by my DME I get two sets of pillows of the appropriate ...

Re: DME wants to know what happened to my old machine
Called back and found out that the DME had screwed up the pre-auth for the new machine and the ins company wanted to know why I needed the new one. Apparently though, when the DME got my voice mail they called the ins company back and they told the DME not to worry about it and that they would cover...

Re: EPR?
Exhalation Pressure Relief (I think). It senses when you are exhaling and reduces the pressure flowing through the mask to make it easier to exhale. Having come off a system that was just blowing the same pressure all the time, I found the higher settings of EPR rather uncomfortable and felt like I ...
