Humidifier failure, Respironics System One
Unit looks more or less like this one: http://www.cpap-experts.com/image/phillips-respironics-PR-REMstar-Pro-Humidifier-300.jpg It's about a year-and-a-half old. Provider's robocall suggested replacing the reservoir. Despite gentle cleaning, the graduation markings are partly gone, and the plastic l...

Re: Provider sent ComfortGel, not CGel BLUE--should I care?
I've only have tried it for one night. It seemed fine. I might not have noticed the difference if the instruction book didn't talk about boiling the mask, cooling it, and putting it on your face for five minutes to "customize" the fit. Apparently you can't or don't do that with the ComfortGel Blue. ...

Re: Replacement intervals?
In case anyone is curious: I asked my primary care provider. I actually brought in my hose, just to be sure he had a feeling for the sort of equipment I was talking about. HIS take was "hoses like this can develop cracks or pockets and bacteria can grow in them, and I think it's a good idea to repla...

Provider sent ComfortGel, not CGel BLUE--should I care?
My provider, Sleep HealthCenters, started me with a Philips Respironics ComfortGel Blue mask, and the replacements they've sent me have all been ComfortGel Blue up until now. I just noticed that the one I received a few weeks ago is a ComfortGel. It's not exactly the same, and the instruction bookle...

Re: Replacement intervals?
OK, I rediscovered why I asked this question in the first place. To recap, Philips Respironics is very clear and specific on cleaning, but offers no guidance at all on replacement other than "contact your provider." Now, my provider, which struck me as being honest but emphatically for-profit--an in...

Re: HAS CPAP LOWERED YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE?
Yes, it has lowered my morning blood pressure considerably... or, my doctor was right in suspecting that I had sleep apnea that was raising it. From 130/85 to 120/75. It has enabled me to cut back on my dosage of blood pressure medication.

Re: Replacement intervals?
I got a phone message from Philips Respironics. Basically they punted. The rep went over the cleaning schedule in detail--which is indeed in the manual and which I already knew. She said something vague about "contacting your provider" on the humidifier reservoir, and that no intervals for the hose ...

Re: Replacement intervals?
So as far as anyone knows, there are no "invisible" issues, the hose isn't treated with some magic antimicrobial coating that only works for a limited time (like a flea collar), and common sense is a safe guide? And nobody knows of an official Philips Respironics replacement schedule? (The unit I ha...

Replacement intervals?
I have a Respironics SystemOne REMStar CPAP machine with attached humidifier. I would like to know the recommended replacement intervals for the replaceable items in this system. The instruction book doesn't give this information, and I'd like to get it from a neutral, clinical source--one that neit...

Do people "break in" ComfortGel Blue cushions?
Diagnosed four months ago, fitted with a Philips Respironics Remstar System One and ComfortGel Blue Nasal CPAP mask, 8 cm pressure. All going well, obvious improvements in quality of sleep and morning blood pressure. When I started, I had nuisance problems with irritation and soreness just under my ...
