Re: Using APAP as diagnostic tool

Gosh - I'm beginning to wish I'd never asked. Thank you for all your replies .... perhaps it would be better if we closed this subject.

Re: Using APAP as diagnostic tool

OK thank you for all your replies - very helpful. So, if we tried CPAP 4 or 5 (continuous) as a starting point, would an AHI reading of 5 or less be classed as "normal" (assuming 4 or 5 gave no theraputic input) and no treatment necessary.

Using APAP as diagnostic tool

Do you think you could use an APAP machine (set to min. pressure 4 and max. 20) to determine whether or not someone might have OSA? If so, what pressure and AHI readings would suggest someone has OSA and needs further investigation and what readings would suggest someone is "normal" and does not hav...

Re: OSA on exhale?

Hi Albacore, I too have OSA on exhalation - I also first noticed it when just relaxing and dropping off to sleep, especially on my back .... continually jerked awake by sudden high pressure exhalations. Although I've been told that apnoea is obstruction on inhalation or exhalation, I've never unders...

S8 Autoset spirit & S8 Autoset spirit II

I know this is a long shot, but does anyone know the difference these two older machines have in the way they provide therapy. I successfully use the 2008 S8 Autoset Spirit II (95th = always 8 ish/AHI = 1.0 ish or below) - no problems and feel good the next day. Now bought the 2006 S8 Autoset Spirit...

Normal AHI readings

I have read in the past that it is normal for everyone to have some hypopneas. So if that is correct, if you set the machine on the lowest pressure (i.e. 4) does anyone know what AHI readings a person without OSA would get?

tooth extractions and CPAP

Does anyone know if tooth extractions likely to take longer to heal with CPAP use? I'm wondering if the pressure could dislodge the forming blood clots over the healing wounds and cause painful "dry sockets". Just about to have all my teeth extracted and have already had a lot of pain with the first...

ResScan Download

Hello, I have just changed my computer and need to reload ResScan. I have tried to download using www. resmed.com/int/assets/html/service_support/resscan_software/resscan3.14-register.html as I did for my old computer but all I get is the message that there is no Resmed.com web page that matches the...

Respironics M Series APAP

Can you still buy the M series APAP? (I am in the UK) I'm trying to get used to the pressure pulse events of a loan Remstar System One APAP but I am constantly disturbed by them and getting more and more tired. I understand from looking at past posts that the M Series did not "Pressure Pulse" so I a...

Re: Remstar Auto ? series and model?

Hello Archangle
Puffs last only a couple of seconds - The rise doesn't seem to bother me so much but the abrupt fall again a couple of seconds later does. It is not the Flex, as that was turned off. From what you say, I think it may be the pulse checking the airway.

Re: Remstar Auto ? series and model?

Thank you everyone - all is now clear. (It is the same as the pic in the link). After first night on the machine I was pleasantly surprised that the pressures were much the same as those experienced during my 10 years on the Resmed S7 - and much, much less than those experienced in the short trial p...

Remstar Auto ? series and model?

Hello I'm hoping someone can clear my confusion. I have the following machine on loan prior to purchase: "Remstar Auto A Flex. Ref: 551P" Is this the PRS1 Auto CPAP and the next one down from the 60 series? I want to make sure that what I am testing is the same as that I will buy . My thanks in adva...

Re: Philips System 1 pro or ResMed Escape

Bigron: Just a word of caution ... after using the old Resmed S6, if you are thinking of a newer Resmed, please trial the machine first to make sure you are comfortable with it. The newer models seem to give a very different therapy; I have used the Resmed S7 Auto for 10 years with no problem at all...

Re: Do I have sleep apnea?

I agree with nanwilson - you need to get it checked out.
However for your information, I have sleep apnea and am most aware that I have trouble breathing out - especially when lying on my back... and often before I drop off to sleep; that's what made me get it checked out in the first place.
