Re: apap, flow limitations, weight loss...

Robysue, your sleep phase sounds similar to mine, maybe even a little later (I'm typically in bed by 1 (recently. I kinda gave up on the try to go at 10)) I am still getting about 6 to 6.5 hours a night. Though, what's weird is, I keep lowering my pressure to see how high it will raise itself, but i...

APAP 'trial' and pressure levels...

http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/p663/bac768/screenshot-20140529-0919--_zps280d9d98.png ok, so 7 hours with the mask on, but the first 26 minutes (before the big break) I didn't sleep plus the last few minutes I apparently has a large leak (maybe why I woke up? lots of hypopneas...1.52 vs 1.52 o...

Re: apap, flow limitations, weight loss...

A person with totally normal sleep patterns usually takes about 15-20 minutes or so to fall asleep after going to bed. And it can actually a sign of either sleep deprivation or a sleep disorder if someone consistently falls asleep a lot sooner than 15 minutes of lying down for the night. Well, I ha...

Re: apap, flow limitations, weight loss...

As I've said before, chances are the remaining issues are NOT being caused by untreated or under treated sleep disordered breathing. You could post an image for me to look at if you wanted. But I really think you need to think that the solution to the sleep maintenance insomnia issues lies in a dir...

Re: apap, flow limitations, weight loss...

ok, Robysue here's a reply (lack of quoting though so I can try to answer things quickly and compactly ) I do have at least a few bad sleep habits. I tend to drink a lot of soda, up to bedtime (non-caffeinated after like 3 though) and even through the night when I wake and need a sip of something. I...

Re: apap, flow limitations, weight loss...

wow, that was a lot, and definitely so good advice. I've forgotten much of it already, but I'll read it again without thinking about what to say in reply. I will try some of your suggestions (maybe all, again, I've forgotten, I have a bad short term memory, but it will all come back to me soon) over...

Re: apap, flow limitations, weight loss...

So my most important question for you right now is this: In your opinion is bedtime insomnia or sleep maintenance insomnia the bigger issue right now? I think it's more sleep maintenance that's the bigger issue right now. You currently have a (roughly) 10:00 or 11:00 pm bedtime and you tend to get ...

Re: apap, flow limitations, weight loss...

I am taking 5 mg Zolpidem (generic Ambien) every night before sleep. It helps me fall asleep within 15 min. It makes no difference if I take it 2 hours or 10 min before I go to sleep. On those occasions that I don't fall asleep within 0ne hour I take another 5 mg. At times I take the 2nd 5 mg durin...

Re: apap, flow limitations, weight loss...

As Pugsy points out: The timing of that first wake is about 2 hours after you went to bed, and it could easily be a normal post-REM awakening. (More on these later.) The second wake looks like it happened about 2.5 hours after you went back to bed. It's possible that this might still be a post-REM ...

Re: apap, flow limitations, weight loss...

Question: How does the sleep anxiety manifest itself? Do you get anxious before you go to bed and have trouble getting to sleep? Or does the sleep anxiety only become an issue if you start to feel like you are noticing apneas before you are fully asleep? Long before I was diagnosed with sleep apnea...

Re: apap, flow limitations, weight loss...

The middle segment....it's obviously much more exciting than the first or last sleep segment. So something changed during that middle segment time frame and my first suspect would be supine sleeping became involved. I've notice on occasion (can't say it for fact) but the more tired I am, the more m...

Re: apap, flow limitations, weight loss...

oh, and as for going back to sleep, it varies, some nights it'll happen right away, some nights I lay there awake for hours, other times, I'm simply not 'tired' so I get for an hour or so then go back to bed. lately (per doctors orders) I take a sleeping pill (ambien) an hour before I go to bed, and...

Re: apap, flow limitations, weight loss...

the stuff by the 130 line, if I'm understanding you correctly, is all the even flags. though 114 of them are 'pressure pulses' which I'm not really sure what they are, well, why they are. as for sleeping on my back, I go to sleep on my side, but do roll to my back sometimes when sleeping. And the fr...
