Re: Swift fx help
I missed any previous discussion(s) on your problems with your Swift FX, but do you wear a chin strap? If so, wear if over the Swift. If not, get one and try it - same way, over the Swift. It keeps my Swift from shifting or moving or going anywhere. I actually woke up a couple of times in a panic, t...

Re: Cleaning S9 water resevoir
Mine is not designed to come apart either. I empty it every morning and leave it propped at an angle with the openings on the bottom so the air can get in and any residual moisture can get out. It is always completely dry come evening. I also used only distilled water in it. Once a week I soak it (a...

Re: Dry mouth question
Oh Roster, I am so [/i] disappointed in you. I have been enjoying your helpful and knowledgeable posts since the day I joined this forum. But today, just now, I learned the truth. You are a. . . . I don't even know if I can even bring myself to type it. . . . . tar heel. At least we have a few month...

Re: Dry mouth question
As someone who has dealt with a chronic dry mouth due to an autoimmune disease (for years before starting CPAP), I have a couple of suggestions. Be sure to stay well hydrated during the day. It sounds obvious, but most of us don't drink enough fluids during the day. My dentist also says Biotene prod...

Re: What Machine features are essential for you?
I went outside of my insurance. My DME gave me a cash price $300 below the best price I could find online - and I have great (and expensive) equipment. As far as features go, I LOVE the heated humidifier and climate control hose. I have dryness issues anyway due to an autoimmune disease, but it is v...

Re: Notice a difference with mild sleep apnea? (15 AHI)
Technically, I had no incidents of apnea during my sleep study. Of course, out of the 8 hour sleep study, I slept a total of slightly over 2 hours, in 5-10 minute increments, with no REM. Sadly that was a very typical night for me. My sleep doctor said clearly I had disturbed sleep and wrote me a sc...

Re: Nostrils sore
I'm about a month into CPAP and only know my Swift FX nasal pillows. I was fitted incorrectly in the beginning, and developed a very raw area at the end of one nostril. I ordered the barrel cozy and no more pressure or irritation. I am a very happy sleeper! http://www.padacheek.com/PACSwiftII_Barrel...

Re: importance of it being REM
My sleep doctor tried to explain all of this to me during my first appointment with him, but I am more of a visual person - I need to see and read things to better comprehend them. This info comes from http://www.helpguide.org/life/sleeping : "Stages of sleep: REM sleep and non-REM sleep stages All ...

Re: CPAP Pillow
I, too, use the PAPillow: http://www.papillow.com/ I bought the double edge for home and can't imagine sleeping with CPAP without it. It allows me to sleep comfortably and easily on either side AND on my stomach without the mask touching anything. (I'm not a back sleeper, but I always lay on my back...

Re: New To CPAP and it's Costing Me My Health
UPDATE ON THE CPAP VAPOR CLEAR SINUS BLASTER I agree, they do their product a great disservice by putting the word "blaster" in the title. It doesn't blast anything. It is identical to their normal aromatherapy, the sole difference being the only scent included is "Clear" - which is made up of euca...

Re: Tired of waiting for CPAP to kick in!
Iim brand new to CPAP (one month in) and had the exact opposite reaction; from the first time I used CPAP I slept all night every night - for the first time in well over a year. In addition to all the helpful suggestions from the other posters (who are WAY more experienced at this than I am), I have...

Re: Having problems with nasal pillows
But I'm apparently turning the machine off in my sleep as well and have no idea how to correct that. Wow, are you ever resourceful! How about an inverted cardboard box, with a cut out for the hose and such - but solid where needed to keep you from pressing the off button? My kids' computer teacher ...

Re: Having problems with nasal pillows
I've only been on CPAP (with Sift FX nasal pillows) for a little over 3 weeks now. Do you feel you have a good seal without leaks before you fall asleep? Do the straps feel tight enough to hold it in place without putting too much pressure anywhere on your head? Do you wear a chin strap? If so, I'd ...
