Re: Hpw long before CPAP made you feel better?
I felt better in 3 days and really better in 3 months, with strange vivid dreams for the 1st month. I know it works because I recently had the pressure increased from 11 to 13, after 5 years I was tired all the time, the next day I had energy again. The sleep meds might be complicating things, I've ...

Re: new to cpap
CPAP takes AT LEAST 30 DAYS, usually 60 days. Many of you have not had real REM sleep for years. You will have dreams, for 2-3 months. Don't sweat it if you take it off after 4 hrs, don't whine until you use it 30 days. Try and use it on weekends during the day, lock out the kids. Move to the spare ...

Re: Dry mouth question
Dry mouth is a side affect of using CPAP. Have you tried a chinstrap instead of tape? Get this: I talked to my sleep Doc, the #2 sleepdoc at Scripps Hospital La Jolla,(Dawson) here, he said " chinstraps don't work very well... the soft palette allows for some mouth breathing..." so I'm thinking... m...

Re: Which side of the filter to use
The " mesh side" is the plastic patterned side. The "felt" side, thus faces out, there's usually a tab that you bend at a 90 degree angle facing out, that's what you pull on to remove it and replace it. The felt side collects the micro dust from the air as it's sucked thru the plastic cap you fit ov...

Re: Contour pillow: do you like?
I use down pillows, 2 older ones in one wide pillow case, I don't want any foam door-stops with holes in them, that's, to me a waste of money. In fact, there is some evidence that a lower pillow (more flat) helps the neck angle to be more open and the airway to be too. I cut it down to 1 (2 pillows/...

Re: leaks during back sleeping
It's a constant problem to prevent leaks. I use the new Swift Mirage FX, I still get leaks but it's almost as versatile as you can get moving around. I've been using CPAP since 2006, I think if you can add 1/2-1 hr to sleeping, like 7-8 hrs, it makes up for the leaks. Sure, some say, well hell, I th...
