Is it possible to clean a tacky mask/pillows
I've noticed that sometimes my pillows and headgear will accumulate this oily, tacky film. This film makes me leery about using the items during sleep (feels creepy!). Other items of similar age don't get tacky...what causes this tackiness? I've tried using water with Bronner's, Pure and Clear, and ...

Curious, what if you're without the humidifier and use the 5 amp? Does it just not work?physicsbob wrote:If you use the humidifier you should use the five amp, without the humidifier use the three amp, as long as your pressures are not over 15 other wise go to the next highest fuse.

Re: ConFUSEion
I finally found some official Respironics manuals online. http://respironicsremstars.respironics.com Unfortunately, it's not really clear. Both the blower unit and the humidifier spec a max current of 5 amps at 12V. It's not 100% clear, but I THINK it's 5 amps total for the pair. Most devices use l...

ConFUSEion
I recently purchased the Respironics Shielded Cord, the cigarette lighter adapter for my CPAP machine. However, the instructions enclosed are misleading as to whether I should use the 3, 5 or 7 amp fuse. I called the Respironics 800 number, but they were so busy, I had to leave a message. They calle...

Re: Which side of the filter to use
The felt side collects the micro dust from the air as it's sucked thru the plastic cap you fit over the filters. CPAPorElse Plastic cap? Did you mean grey reusable foam filter? Or did you mean I have to buy one of these things now? http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=respironics+filter+cap&oe=...

Re: Dry mouth question
may is the keyword. Is there clinical evidence to suggest that mint leads to GERD? Again it aggravates GERD, but doesn't necessarily cause it (at least from readings).roster wrote:It may be one of several factors that lead to GERD.

Re: Dry mouth question
I'm using a default setting of 4, with a filled nightly reservoir of 65%, based on my pressure of 11. For the side effects of dry mouth, I take an OraHealth Xylimelt (be sure to get the mint ones and not the other ones) after therapy and during the day as needed (for me 1-2 a day). After brushing my...

I'm fairly new as well. The first night at the sleep study was crummy. They shou...

Re: Which side of the filter to use
Thanks for the tips all. archangle is correct. Out of the box filters shipping with the current Respironics machines are tabless. Looks like I was putting the filter in the correct way (the apparently slightly harder to breathe way). Maybe if this keeps up, I'll just alternate between having and not...

Which side of the filter to use
Hello, For the Philips REMstar Plus C-Flex, page 5 of the User Manual suggests under the section Installing the Air Filters 1. If you are using the white disposable ultra-fine filter, insert it into the filter area first, mesh-side facing in. What do they mean by the mesh side. Is it the soft side o...

Hi Ron, does the DME facility provide shipments of equipment to you at low or no cost? That might help you during the testing/fine-tuning phase.Richmond Ron wrote: besides... the DME facility I am supposed to use is just shy of an hours drive from home. Re: After the first useage of Cpap at home
Hey Ron, Right there with you. I'm also new to having a Cpap machine and mask. Your first few days will be testing. The key, from what friends are telling me, is to find mask(s) and setups that provide a good fit. Talk with your DME (the durable medical equipment supplier) to find out what suggestio...
