Re: ASV: Is PR System 1 More Comfortable Than Older Model?
I could tell the difference in the PR auto vs the elite, but it wasn't a huge "oh wow" kind of thing, just a "I don't like this quite as much".. (I also got spoiled by the soft start the S9 machines do, whereas the PR starts at whatever pressure min you have, the S9 winds up over a few seconds, sor...

Re: ASV: Is PR System 1 More Comfortable Than Older Model?
I've slept with a PR remstar pro-M (400), a S9 elite (36003), PRS160s auto (560) and now a S9 VPAP Auto (36006) and have briefly had a VPAP Adapt (36037) just while testing it after cleaning the cigarette stained innerds. I didn't like the PRs160 as much as I did the resmed s9 elite, but I wanted a...

Re: ASV: Is PR System 1 More Comfortable Than Older Model?
By "pressure is pressure," I just meant that 4cm H20 should be 4cm H20 on either machine, and that it should feel the same...not that the pressure setting itself wouldn't very. But it sounds like you think that the differential might be smoother? Perhaps the shift from IPAP to EPAP? how the pressur...

Re: ASV: Is PR System 1 More Comfortable Than Older Model?
I can't think of a reason why the newer model would be more comfortable. Pressure should be pressure...right? newer is often better. (not so with freezers and other appliances necessarily) but definitely with xpap. if pressure was pressure, then everything would be straight cpap with no variation.....

Re: ASV: Is PR System 1 More Comfortable Than Older Model?
Wanted to update in this. So PSmin=2 is what they did in the titration and where I felt comfortable. Using PSmin=2 at home definitely feels less comfortable. Obviously 3 feels a bit better. The whole thing is perplexing. I can't think of a reason why the newer model would be more comfortable. Pressu...

Re: Matching brand of mask to machine - worth it?
So my doctor called yesterday and said that she'd heard at a recent sleep conference that this can matter. She cited the proper measurement of leak, and I can see there being something to that. Gee, I wonder who funded that study? Could it perhaps have been funded by a CPAP machine manufacturer? If...

Re: Matching brand of mask to machine - worth it?
My experience mirrors that of both of you. I have not been happy with Respironics masks (which makes my doc's suggestion of matching up the xPAP and mask manufacturer problematic), and I too like the Swift LT night and day better than the Swift FX. I'll have to look into the P10.

That said, is anyone aware of any studies or literature suggesting that it actually matters with respect...

Re: ASV: Is PR System 1 More Comfortable Than Older Model?
As to the older ASV, I really don't know. It may be that it's not providing the right pressure and need a tune-up. Or you may need to tweak the rise time to mimic the lab model's behavior. What happens if you bump up PSmin? My PSmin is 4, which feels just about right to me. I've thought about lower...

Re: ASV: Is PR System 1 More Comfortable Than Older Model?
kteague, thanks for the suggestion. I edited the title. JDS74, what I'd been doing at home on the System 1 CPAP was exactly as you suggested--namely, bumping the min EPAP up to around 7 (which was the minimum comfort level). Things seem to be messy at all min EPAP levels, unfortunately, with a high ...

ASV: Is PR System 1 More Comfortable Than Older Model?
Hi friends, It's been a while. I have a kind of crazy question that I'm hoping someone can answer, or even just say "me too!" I just finished up my 6th PSG and my 2nd ASV titration. (Lucky me, right?) Long story short, in both titrations, I've noticed that despite them leaving the min EPAP at 4 and ...

Re: Clonazepam/Sleep Meds & Apnea: Extent of Causal Link
I think klonopin helps a lot and there's an article in Sleep showing it reduces centrals. I also took 2 restoril before a sleep study and it helped the results but on the MSLT I failed the day after and had a lot of narcolepsy. but somehow klonopin is more effective than restoril or ambien. does an...

Re: Post-Surgery Blues: Scoring Question
SleepingUgly: Yeah, my lower teeth are certainly past my upper ones. It's sort of uncomfortable actually, but I manage to go to sleep. However, I can subjectively say that the quality of my sleep definitely feels worse (waking up more tired, more EDS, more irritable, etc.). Somehow, just about anyth...

Re: Post-Surgery Blues: Scoring Question
Yeah, it's got screws that can be moved outward. So far, I've had only one follow-up appointment, and they haven't advanced it more. We'll see what they do on my next one in a few weeks. The nasal dilators are one of the things the OASYS touts as different from the competition. They're hard to descr...
