Re: Can upper spine problems cause sleep apnea?
Then maybe I should ask, could I have been misdiagnosed with sleep apnea and just simply had trouble breathing which manifested in sleep apnea symptoms? Doubt it. Sleep studies have very specific criteria to meet to satisfy diagnosis requirements. Easy to spot on the sleep study. They don't pull th...

Re: Can upper spine problems cause sleep apnea?
So I'm not sure what you mean. I'm not saying a chiropractor can cure disease. I'm saying they can get rid of pain and inflammation. I'm saying that anyone who goes for spinal adjustment and improves would have improved without the spinal adjustment. Well, I don't doubt that there are many frauds o...

Re: Can upper spine problems cause sleep apnea?
Chiropractors are quacks that delude a few people into thinking they did something for them. I've had my back adjusted in the past, and it has alleviated back pain. Same with many family members who have gone. So I'm not sure what you mean. I'm not saying a chiropractor can cure disease. I'm saying...

Can upper spine problems cause sleep apnea?
Or could spine misalignment make sleep apnea worse? Went to the chiropractor yesterday for the first time since before I started CPAP therapy. He thinks that the vertabrae that are out in my spine are causing inflammation which is giving my lungs and diaphragm breathing issues. My back is so out of ...

Re: Anyone able to help me get my centrals down?
Consider: Ask about whether a notable number of alpha intrusions were seen in your delta (NR3) sleep. (Very brief periods of waking during very deep sleep.) If so, your problem may be neurological, but not entirely or exactly related to centrals. That could account for the muscle pain, numbness and...

Re: Self-Diagnosis of Complex Sleep Apnea? Help is appreciated.
I agree with dream diver and have also had a tendency to forget to breath at least since high school. I did self diagnose that mine were mostly central and was not believed till I got in the sleep lab. My guess is that missing just a few breaths while sleeping may not be actionable as far as insura...

Re: Anyone able to help me get my centrals down?
Can you ask your doctor to prescibe an overnight oximetry test to determine how low your oxygen is actually going, despite BiPap? Yes, I think I will ask him about that, because I know it was mentioned at my followup, but nothing ever came of it. In the meantime, I know I am still not getting quite...

Anyone able to help me get my centrals down?
After about 6 weeks on the Respironics System One Auto BiPAP, I have been feeling a little better, but still not great, and I’m having a lot of trouble getting improvement from this point. I’ve been on a new base pressure of 10 cm IPAP and 8 cm EPAP for over a week now, and the only apneas on my sle...

Re: Self-Diagnosis of Complex Sleep Apnea? Help is appreciated.
One more questions: Does anyone know if there is a way to set the Remstar System One Auto BiPAP so that the beginning IPAP and EPAP pressures can be more than 2 cm apart while in auto mode? I know how to do this in straight BiPAP mode, but I have searched the machine up and down and cannot find a w...

Re: Self-Diagnosis of Complex Sleep Apnea? Help is appreciated.
Okay, based on all of your suggestions, I will try to stick with consistent settings for at least a week. I am wondering if I should remain on the prescribed settings? (10 IPAP, 8 EPAP) or if I should use the settings I slightly adjusted and did a little better on? (IPAP 9.5, 7.5 EPAP) With the pres...

Re: Self-Diagnosis of Complex Sleep Apnea? Help is appreciated.
I hope the idealized example will be useful as you figure out the settings that work best for you. Thank you so much, this information is very helpful. Last night, I kicked my base pressure down one notch from EPAP 8 IPAP 10, to EPAP 7.5 IPAP 9.5. My numbers were similar to last night's, but I feel...

Re: Self-Diagnosis of Complex Sleep Apnea? Help is appreciated.
I like that your doctor took what you said into consideration and came back with an appropriate answer and doesn't mind that you are titrating at home. These are good things. It looks like you're on the right path. Last night I used the machine with increased base pressure, IPAP 10, EPAP 8 (previou...

Re: Self-Diagnosis of Complex Sleep Apnea? Help is appreciated.
You may not get a clear answer to this question, but in general, my understanding is that it has to do with how our bodies sense O2 and CO2 during sleep. I don't know whether what we have is complex sleep apnea, but it's likely not according to many smarter minds than mine on this board. It may be ...

Re: Self-Diagnosis of Complex Sleep Apnea? Help is appreciated.
I am wearing the Respironics Comfort Fusion, which I understand is a higher risk of leaking. However, my large leaks are low to nonexistent. Since I have started the therapy: Average % of night in large leak is 0. Average large leak is 3 secs. Nearly all sleep data on any given night shows 0.0% in ...
