Re: Stop humidification for travel?? Advice please
Thanks..I do have all the gels, sprays, etc for dry mouth so am leaning toward trying it without the humidifier. The kibbutz housing does have air conditioning and this is not in the hotter parts of Israel. I will have a roommate and it stops my snoring (among other benefits) so I must have a CPAP m...

Stop humidification for travel?? Advice please
Hi, I normally use a Remstar Auto C-Flex CPAP machine with heated humidifier, humidity set on 1-3 depending how cold it is (I live in Chicago). I have traveled with it a lot and am tired of the hassle of having to travel with two suitcases (it takes up half of one). I'm leaving for a month in Israel...

Re: CPAP does not seem to help - Dry mouth
Dry mouth is not the same as thirst, and water doesn't help dry mouth other than momentarily relieves the discomfort. Lack of saliva is the problem. Go to the drug store and buy these: Biotene dry mouth mouthwash, Biotene Oral Balance dry mouth moisturizing gel, Biotene moisturizing mouth spray, Act...

Profile not displaying machine (Admin)
On this forum my machine is not displayed when I post, although it is entered in my profile. Any suggestions?

Re: Chin straps
I have been using a Prana yoga headband (a snug flat piece of cotton/lycra about 3" wide) worn around my head and under my chin, and it works great!

Re: Bed Pillow
I used to always sleep on my right side, but since using CPAP (about 3 years) I have changed to sleeping on my back and find it very comfortable. I have several down pillows...a couple of firmer ones against the headboard, and then a soft one placed against them at an angle. When I lie back after pu...

Re: keeping your mouth closed while sleeping
I use a Prana (brand) yoga headband made out of soft stretchy cotton worn over my head and under the front part of my jaw. I pulled the bottom up to just below my lower lip and rolled it over a few times to make a firm edge, then pinched the headband just below each ear and stitched back and forth o...

Re: Overwhelmed & sidelined
Dear Hueyville, You have come to the right place for guidance, the regulars here are very informed and wise! I am not a climber but like to participate in archaeological digs in Israel. In May this year I spent a month sharing a small room with 3 roommates on a kibbutz and used my CPAP machine every...

Re: Need help......frustrated and disillusioned
Hi Gibbo, I am also highly sensitive to textures, pressure, sounds, etc. Long ago I gave up trying to ignore my sensitivities and now accept myself as I am, and modify my sleeping arrangements to be comforting to me. My jaw also would tend to open during sleep (I use a nasal mask) and I solved that ...

Re: International travel with CPAP
I just returned from a trip to Paris and Israel, took my CPAP machine as a medical device (extra) in carry-on luggage. In the bag I carry a copy of my receipt from the medical supply company showing the make & model (an Rx would be better but I can't find mine). The only problem I had was in returni...

Taking RemStar Auto-Flex CPAP machine to France & Israel
Hi, this summer I will be in France for a week and Israel (4 weeks) (at a kibbutz) and will be taking my machine with me.
Any advice to make sure it works in France and Israel? How can I tell if it is dual voltage and do I need to flip a switch? I have lots of converters and plug adapters.
Thanks!

Re: New Here Been Getting Sinus Infections from Machine
Are you using the extra-fine filters along with the sponge filter that comes with the machine? I developed lung infections (on pre-existing lung scarring which makes me prone to them) a LOT right after starting on CPAP. I did not know of the extra-fine filters when I began using CPAP. I am going to ...

Re: What's the best way to clean the hose?
I keep a spray bottle of plain vinegar in my bathroom. About once a week I take the hose and spray into each end a few spritzes of vinegar, then partially fill the hose with very hot tap water, and alternately raise and lower each end so the water/vinegar sloshes through the hose a few times. Then I...

Re: Swift Fx for Her--cold/wet air flow?
Thanks everyone for your advice and comments. Last night I increased the heater setting to 5. This took care of the cold air problem...but my water tank (about half full when I went to bed) ran dry and I awoke with a seriously and painfully dry mouth. Took me awhile to figure out what happened. So t...
