Best Cpap?
My wife and I are both on Cpap, currently using the ResMed S9 Autoset. Both our machines are 6 yrs old and starting to give a few problems. I understand ResMed has discontinued this model. What Cpap machine is best on the market now?

Re: central apneas
Guess I should have added that when the centrals showed up they set me up with a 02 concentrator, thats when my AHI got down to acceptable levels.

Re: central apneas
My sleep study showed NO Centrals, all obstructive, my S9 is 99% centrals. Started out at AHI around 9-10 but after month its has dropped to average of 3-4. Still mostly all centrals with a obstructive every now and then.

Re: Two Questions: BackSleeping & Sleeping Pill Recommendations?
It was recommended here on the forums to take 1000mg of Calcium and 1000mg of Magnesium 2 hours before going to bed. This has worked very well for me, and its actually good for you. But,,,,,in you situation you should consult your Dr to make sure its OK.

Re: AHI Control
I started out with really high centrals (no centrals in the sleep test), but over the last month they have got better and better. I am also now on O2 which has also helped. I think getting used to the cpap has helped a lot also, seems I sleep better now. Another thing I have done is taking 1000mg of...

Re: Shoot...I forgot to put in my data card...
I have done that a couple of times so far, and in only 36 days of use so far. The time, average AHI stuff will still be there, just not detailed data. No big deal really.

Re: Centrals on S9 ?
I run into the same thing here. Sleep study showed NO centrals at all, only obstructive. Now at home with the S9 I am only have 1 or 2 obstructive all night, but Centrals are averaging around 3-4 per hour. At least its getting better, when I started 3 weeks ago my centrals were averaging 9-10, but a...

I tried the Pure Sleep, did not help with my snoring (according to my wife), I sent it back and got a full refund. This was little over a yr ago.

Re: Central sleep apnea ?
My sleep test showed all OSA and had NO centrals at all. I was put on cpap at 7 and my AHI was running around 8-10, all Centrals. No centrals at the sleep study, hmmmm. I now have O2 added and my AHI has been running around 3 now, but only 1 or 2 OSA during the night, rest are still Centrals. I did ...

Re: Tylenol PM?
Try OTC calcium magnesium supplements at bedtiime. 1000 mg magnesium with 1000 mg calcium. It will knock you out good and has a low side effect profile. And its even good for you. The magnesium has a neuromuscular relaxant effect and makes you fall asleep and stay asleep. This is another trick I le...

Re: Mouth Breathing
Ok, changed up some things last night. Went backto cpap set at 7 (was apap 7-12), and made sure I slept on side-stomoch instead of back. No mouth breathing problems at all. I spent 95% of the night on my stomoch, AHI was 2.7 and Centrals was 2.1. Night before was AHI 10.1 and centrals at 9.0 Bad new...

Mouth Breathing
Woke myself up numerous times last night from mouth breathing, even started dreaming about it then. Could mouth breathing show up as Centrals? Is taping my mouth the best thing to try? Open for suggestions.

Re: Tracheotomy?
My Dad had one and he did not use the cpap anymore. Had a cap on it that he took off at night to sleep. He had open heart surgery and the Dr was concerned about the trach causing infection. Guess what? It did and he never left the hospital, was there about 3 months before he passed away, they could ...

Re: OSA/CA on Resmed9
I cannot tell any difference, still get sleepy during the afternoon as before cpap. My machine is set at 7, pressure determined by sleep study. I have tried apap at 4-10 and 7-12, same results. Lowest AHI I have seen was 3.9 with a high of 9.4. Last night was my 13th night.
