Mask Adjustment
Jay, Sounds like you are on the right track. Stick with it. It took me about 6 months with the help of the folks on this forum to finally get everything just right and for most of that time I felt even worse. However, once I got the right combo for me it was incredible. I was like you when it starte...

Mouth Breathing
I did not read this entire thread so I'm not sure if this was mentioned. I gave up on the chin straps and ended up using "Chin Up Strips" made by the company that makes "Breath Right Strips". They did the trick for me and after using them for a few months I was retrained and stopped mouth breathing ...

FF Mask
Bradp, I use the Mirage. I love it but haven't tried any others to compare it too. I still had some problems with leakage because my mouth dropped and broke the seal. I used the "Chin Up Strips" and they stopped it from happening. After some time the "CUS" retrained my jaw and I stopped mouth breath...

Just a couple of thoughts.... I am not a very articulate person but here it goes. I agree with the others that "guests" should be allowed to post. I feel that many newly diagnosed apnea suffers find this board daily like I did back in November. I did register on my first visit but feel that some may...

(Rested gal)jjb has a good point. Probably most DMEs are never asked to download data - not even by a doctor. Some may have never done a smart card download, ever. That is so true! My DME had to have the smart card sent out. They didn't even have the software and reader themselves. When I told him ...

Guest, I can't speak to what the research says about auto paps but I can speak from my own experience. I started cpap therapy about 4 months ago. Despite not sleeping hardly at all (best I could get might be a little over an hour), feeling soooo much worse than I did before treatment, severe depress...

Debbie, I did a search within the forum for Encore Pro. There were a few postings that releated to our question. They are: http://cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=1097&highlight=encore+pro http://cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?p=5492&highlight=#5492 and rested gal posted her website that had her results fro...

Amount of Leakage?
This seems like the appropriate thread to post this question rather than creating a new one. Just got my autopap 3 nights ago and the Encore software and reader two nights ago. How much leakage is common and okay? Last night I had: max avg. 64.0, avg. 90% 37.0, and avg. 34.0 with no large leaks repo...

I was very fortunate to have a DME who let me try just about any mask that I wanted. He also let me take a couple of masks home to try. I went to return the one that I wasn't going to use as much and he said to keep it. From the stories I've read, some folks have good DME's and some BAD DME's. Same ...

momcochran, I was having the same problems as your husband. It seemed like my Mirage FF mask would start out sealed good but during the night it would leak and wake me up. Through quite a lot of trial and error and being awake I noticed that when I would start to fall asleep my jaw would drop when I...

Feeling Better?
I still don't feel better and like many even feel worse but I'm not going to give up. I'm wear my mask every night and keep trying to find the right answers to get over the hurdles. I can't change the fact that I have sleep apnea but I can treat it with cpap and this forum... even if it takes a year...
