Re: Frazzled newbie CPAP questions
When I first began therapy, my insurance only covered "rental" as well, but it was structured such that after 12 months it was yours. I had some oddities in that my insurance changed before the 12 months was up, but my DME at the time was fantastic, and though I was a month or two short, effectively...

Re: Getting used to therapy again - several questions
2. Is there anything I can do to reduce dry mouth? You could try changing the Climateline over to manual mode where you can adjust the humidity level delivered and the temperature of the air independent of each other. Right now it is likely set to automatic which means 80% delivery at whatever temp...

Re: Getting used to therapy again - several questions
I will start with these 2 questions. This link may help with mask fitting. https://maskarrayed.wordpress.com/tamin ... e-quattro/ If you are not using a liner these may help. http://www.padacheek.com/ or https://www.cpap.com/productpage/remzzzs ... iners.html I prefer the PadaCheek because you put ...

Getting used to therapy again - several questions
Hi all, I've recently come back to CPAP therapy after some time off and a move to a new state or two (bad me). I had a new sleep Dr., new split-night study with a slightly higher pressure, new DME that seems reasonable, and most importantly (to me), a new mask. Previously, I was using nasal pillows,...

Re: Coming back to therapy
Have you experimented with the EPR at all? I haven't. While I know I can tweak settings, I haven't played with anything other than humidity. I don't trust myself yet to play too much. Given the low pressure setting I have (6), I don't know that the EPR can do much more than go down to 4. I've never...

Re: Coming back to therapy
So, in an effort to get a new prescription and go about this in the "proper" way, I went to see a sleep doc today. He did give me a script for a mask, but does want to do another sleep study (split between baseline and titration), since I was on a rather low pressure setting before (6), and thinks b...

Re: Coming back to therapy
Well, poo. I just looked up my old prescription, and it looks like it was for 12 months only. I think I can order new filters without a prescription, but I need one for a mask? I guess I've gotta find a new doctor around here. I assume one will make me go through another sleep study before giving me...

Coming back to therapy
Hi all, I was originally diagnosed several years ago, and while my compliance was great for awhile, it wasn't the silver bullet for my sleepiness I'd been hoping for. I started finding excuses and haven't regularly been using my cpap for a year or more. My weight has changed over the years, and bein...

Re: Meeting with DME for the first time tomorrow
Well that went a lot better than I was fearing. I called my insurance to get my facts straight before I went. (It normally is a 12 month rental period, then you own it after that... but with my insurance changing later, I imagine I'll have to return it.) No copays, which is great, so I don't need to...

Re: Meeting with DME for the first time tomorrow
I, too, was offered a CPAP machine, and even though it was an S9 Elite, opted to walk and give CPAP.com the business. Sometimes it's just not worth the hassle, and I really don't like arguing. This is tempting if I don't like what I hear. I really don't like arguing either, and while machines aren'...

Re: Meeting with DME for the first time tomorrow
Thanks for all the advice, everyone. I said "the DME" as it's the one associated with the health system I go to. The doctor sent the prescription there and they called me. I haven't seen my prescription yet, nor do I know about other DMEs in the area. As you can imagine, I'm quite new to this. I've ...

Meeting with DME for the first time tomorrow
Hi all - I'm meeting with the DME for the first time tomorrow after having two sleep studies (one for diagnosis, one for titration.) I feel a little bit like I'm going in blind, so if you have suggestions about what I need to ask/find out from them or beforehand, I'd love to learn from your experien...

What questions to ask?
Hi there, I recently had my first sleep study done after falling asleep in class/meetings for many years. After my first visit, she suggested that if I did have sleep apnea it was probably mild (I don't snore much), and suggested that my study be done with a Pes tube. So, I had my study. I don't hav...
