Tonsillectomy
I've read a bunch of posts of about the low success rate of UPPP - but what about a plain old tonsillectomy to address OSA? I've been told by several ENTs and a pulmonary doctor that I have HUGE tonsils - is there a reason not to try that and if that doesn't work, resort back to the CPAP? Thanks.

Dropped hose in toilet
I was washing my mask with my hose tucked under my arm and then I accidently dropped about 6-7 inches of the hose in the toilet (nothing in the toilet). I washed it with dishwashing liquid and soaked it in vinegar overnight but not sure if I should keep it. The hose has a tube inside to monitor airf...

This may be a strange question, but I am wondering WHY anyone would want to use a straight CPAP, even with C-Flex, when they could use an AUTOpap? _________________ I wondered that myself. Let's say my titration study was WRONG - and that I need more than a 10 to keep me from having events. The aut...

Still confused
Ok - tried reading/searching some old posts but not getting a clear answer.
1. Are there any straight CPAP machines that allow software monitoring (i.e., not APAPs, C-Flexs).
Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. I guess what I am getting at is trying to figure out whether I need more sleep (duh!); the cpap machine is not working effectively (need software) or its a combination of the two. It probably sounds strange - but its even hard to get eight hours of sleep - kids wake up on week...

How many hours?
I get only about 6 or so hours a night (sometimes less). I know it sounds crazy - but I still feel tired (maybe not as tired as pre-CPAP days). I don't sleep 8 hours for several reasons - decompression time after kids go to bed (close to 10pm) and as I wake up at 5:30am. So I need to go to sleep at ...

Update
Well, its has been late April since I started CPAP therapy in earnest and I think it has helped but I still feel tired. What I don't like about my machine Resmed S6 is that I have no idea what pressure it is at (set at 10); how often I am getting apneas, etc. In other words, is the machine doing wha...

Success!
My sons surgery went much better than expected. He didn't cry in pain upon wakening from the surgery. He did have a low grade fever for a couple of days and was a little more cranky (expected) but he is doing much better now. He doesn't snore or mouth breathe as often as he did and he seems to have ...

Update
My wife went to three other ENTs yesterday to have their opinion on my son's tonsils. One doctor gave a rating of 3 1/2 to 4 on the largeness of the tonsils (4 being touching). He indicated that his breathing is heavy during rest and we told him that he snorts/snores at night. Obviously, the tonsils...

What's the difference?
As mentioned, I have large tonsils and sleep apnea. My son has large tonsils and I don't know if he has sleep apnea. Why do many people recommend that little kids to have the T&A surgery but do not recommend adults get the surgery (as it does not have a high success rate and it may impact the effect...
