Re: Anyone with o2 Supplement..... my goal is to get rid of this
Hey there, BMC23..... Just got on the board in forever and saw your post. I will tell you my experience. Initially, over 4 years ago, I was diagnosed with "off the charts" OSA, with hypoxemia ( decreased oxygen levels ) as well. I have the apnea thing pretty well controlled by now, but the oxygen is...

Resmed S9 software
Hi all! Silly question here. I just replaced my old computer with a new one, running Windows 8.1. I have always been able to view my cpap information with my old computer. After reading on another board that you have to change the SD card from "unlocked" to "locked", I attempted to insert it and beg...

ResMed Elite 9 software issue
Just wondering if anyone else using my machine and its' software has had any issues downloading data. I have not downloaded in atleast 3 months, but upon trying this morning, found NO DATA in my report. It brought up the usual screen, I was prompted to click on whatever data I wanted it to calculate...

Vitamin D and Sleep Apnea
I know this topic has been mentioned in the past, but I just wanted to re-confirm what it probably said. My female doctor watches my Vitamin D level closely. After getting blood work a few weeks back, she sent over a script to my pharmacy for 100,000 I.U.s per week. My level was quite low, a lovely ...

Effects of quitting smoking on CPAP therapy
Hi all... I've come here for some guidance, input, moral support. After a tumultuous 25 year relationship with cigarettes, I have decided that NOW is the time to quit! Many reasons factor into this decision, but I've finally made it. My most pressing issue is what effect(s) this will have on my CPAP...

Re: Anybody try the "Ultimate Chin Strap"
Wally, I too, am a mouth breather. I successfully use the Swift FX for her along with the chin strap that I am talking about. I keep my leaks very well controlled, never having gone above my docs' recommendation of 25. Here is the link. I hope you find it worth looking in to.... http://www.thecpapsh...

Re: Just diagnosed. AHI 72
Sperry, here is a link that may/may not be of assistance to you. I guess, without sounding nosey, it's important to know why you think you'll be losing your Medicaid. If it's for excess income, I have a few suggestions. Check with the local hospitals/DME providers. They have "charity care" applicati...

Re: Just diagnosed. AHI 72
Sperry, I myself was diagnosed with an AHI of 83. It is bad, but thankfully, you have caught it in time and you will have the tools necessary to correct it! As for the Medicaid issue, it would help to know what state you reside in. I can give you experience with my personal situation, but if you don...

Re: Coumadin Usage while on CPAP therapy
Ok everyone, thanks for responding. Knowing that I had been on the rat poison previously, I truly tried to keep an open mind. Of course, I started back on a 10 mg/night dose, so perhaps that had a little something to do with it. I am at 15 mg/night now. Still not therapeutic. Anyways, I have noticed...

Coumadin Usage while on CPAP therapy
I am wondering if anyone has simultaneously been on Coumadin ( blood thinners ) therapy concurrent with their CPAP therapy? I will wait to see if anyone replies before I give my personal experiences. Please feel free to comment.

Re: Unexplained shut down of ResMed S9
My wife was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea, and we have acquired a ResMed S9, properly set up by a clinician. On her first night everything seemed fine until she awoke about 3 AM. The unit had shut down for some reason, and the sudden change in the air supply woke her. All connections, both ai...

Re: Oxygen level below 90% for 1/2 hr during the night
Well, Mechanicalguy, I don't want to alarm you, instead I'd like to educate you, hun. ANYTIME the 02 levels in the body go below 90% is not good. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give this a 7ish. You're lucky that it was only for 5% of your sleeping time. Mine was @ 53% for almost half the night. I am us...

Re: Educating family & friends
I wouldn't count on most people being very supportive! I don't mean to sound like a "downer", but that is what I've experienced, so far. My family doesn't understand why I still nap most days, how I can be so "under the weather" on others and how this OSA can seem to take over your life. I am 100% c...

Re: Capsaicin Nasal Spray
I cannot believe that they have made a spray with capsaicin in it. My Mother has used the topical version on her arthritic knee for quite some time, but developed a nagging cough after a while. It seems that capsaicin, when combined with Lisinopril( BP MED ) can produce a bothersome cough. Just an F...
