Re: Archangle is incomplete
The risk is from rebreathing your exhaled air if your CPAP fails with your mouth taped. That's the reason every full face mask sold has an "anti-asphyxia" valve. If you keep rebreathing your exhaled air, CO2 builds up and O2 drops. Your argument is proceeding nicely but it is incomplete. To make it...

Re: Anyone else notice a singing voice improvement after CPAP?
On the flip side, I have been wondering about the benefits of vocal exercises to help strengthen the muscles around the airway. Me too. The past couple of days, I have just been stuck on this concept. My wife is a strong, well-controlled singer and she doesn't make a sound when she sleeps. I wonder...

Re: New to Cpap
A tape that I would recommend is Nexcare Gentle Paper Tape. You can find it at Walgreens. I use it for taping my mouth shut each night. It holds well and does not cause a skin rash. Also, I want to encourage you that as you keep using the machine, you will get used to it. I've been on one since Febr...

Re: Nostrils sore
Arniflora Arnica Gel http://is.gd/Dv67oe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnica Takes the soreness out. I use FX and this helped me. So you rub this inside of your nose? I would be afraid of that. This is for sore muscles. All the reviews I saw was for topical (on the skin) type of uses. I understand ...

Re: Swift FX Nasal Pillows Success
I love the Swift FX too. It's my lifeline to a decent night's sleep. I've tried the no tape, no papcap routine. I would not recommend it. It's just frustrating. I've been taping the last week or so. The cap is slipping forward and I can't seem to figure out how to fix that. I recommend that you use ...

Re: OT: Drinking water, suggestions please
It might be the brand you've tried. There are a lot of bottled waters that I can't stand. However, two that I like is Kirkland's premium drinking water from Costco (36 bottles for ~$4, 16.9 oz/bottle). Another one is Sam's Choice purified water (with flavor enhancing minerals) from Wal-mart. I haven...

Re: picking a mask
We can't tell from your signature what equipment you are using. We also don't know what pressure your therapy requires. Those things are important as you make your selection. I haven't been at this all that long. But, I am discovering that a great mask for someone on a moderate pressure cpap may not...

Re: What type of tape to use
I am no longer taping, but I did for a couple of years. I found the NexCare Gentle Paper Tape, 2" wide worked best for me. You can get it at Walgreens: http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/nexcare-gentle-paper-2-in-first-aid-white-tape/ID=prod4654-product Good luck, Dennis +1 That's what I use too. I'v...

Re: The Blowfish Follies: Adventures in Taping
I'm still finding the PAPcap chinstrap pretty effective. The only problem is, the cap tends to creep forward on my head so the chinstrap loosens and doesn't work. At least half of the nights, I have to get up, remove the cap, and put it back on correctly (in the dark). Of course, that involves remov...

Re: so what's the deal with mouth taping?
I tape and have for years. I recently heard a good sleep doc say that full face masks are not as effective, but don't know why. This same doc was against tape and chin straps. He said if you can't get enough air through your nose, you need to get your nasal airway fixed. Well, I've been on cpap abo...

Re: so what's the deal with mouth taping?
I am a rookie at this and trying to figure out a mask. I read about mouth taping which sounds good as I am a lip puffer, I am currently trying an FX mask, with pillows and no mouth cover. I understand the DMEs don't approve of tape from a tort liability aspect and the doctors don't see 3M as a vali...

Re: Changing masks
I believe that's the Mirage Liberty by Resmed. I have that one. I don't use it because I get along much better with the Swift FX nasal pillow. I think the Quatro is for rather experienced users. That counts me out. I have trouble with the full and hybrid masks. When my mouth opens, that's when the t...

Re: Nasal pillows - are they all the same?
I have the Swift FX and the Optilife. The Optilife is a good backup for a weekend afternoon nap while my Swift FX is drying. However, it is a backup. It leaks a little for me. I guess I don't have the floppy issue. I've been using the Swift FX for a month. Here's my routine: I wash it every morning ...

Re: Does CPAP not wok for me, as I'm dizzy again?
colomb, One of the things your dr or durable medical equipment provider (DME) will recommend for the mouth breathing is a chin strap. The only thing is, the one they will provide will probably do nothing. At least that was my experience. However, there are a couple of good ones that really work. My ...
