Re: Blech!: Mask/pillow discomfort->Neck/Back Pain. Help!

A very good point. I suppose I gave up on thinking the masks could be comfortable, but it sounds like not everyone needs to freeze while sleeping. I suppose the next post should be how to work with medical supply companies...

Thank you for the pillow recommendation! I'm going to explore it further!

Blech!: Mask/pillow discomfort->Neck/Back Pain. Help!

Hi all, Topic: Pillows, sleeping position and resulting neck and back pain I tried doing a search on past topics to see if I could solve this one for myself and had trouble finding anything. Here's the deal and I would imagine others have dealt with this, and hopefully found a solution. In order to ...

Re: Discouraged...about to give up...

Thanks Pugsy. I'm buying tape! After walking around with dents in my face all morning on my errands, I feel motivated.

Re: Discouraged...about to give up...

I was just logging on to do a search on what to do about nasal pillows. During my sleep study, I was immediately turned off from them preferring the full face mask as it was less intense pressure in my nose, and I hated the feeling of air coming out of my mouth. Just last week, as a now seasoned and...

Re: Average Age of Apnea Patients?

Oh dear, I voted assuming the poll was to guess the average age of sleep apnea patients. Is there a way to change the wording... to like, what's our average age... how old are you??? Or something.... I'm 28. And I suspect I've had sleep apnea since I was a child. A good friend of mine used to work a...

Re: The Social Aspect of Traveling

Thanks everyone! I'm taking 2 main things from this: 1) Getting over the unnecessary embarrassment! I think this might really have to my other inclinations to not want to inconvenience people, as well as not wanting to wear the mask and do that whole thing in front of people. Time to get over it, an...

Re: Are these possible side effects of the C Pap?

First, SOOO glad to hear you went to the doctor. I haven't researched this in depth, but I do believe weight gain may be both a cause and effect of sleep apnea. Our bodies go into shut down mode. And we have no energy and our bodies may be trying to make up for this by storing food. So you are in a ...

Re: Melatonin works as good as Ambien... What say you?

Wow. Amazed to hear these melatonin reactions. I'll be checking in with my naturopath about it. I know Kava Kava can really help. But you have to be careful with your liver (so don't drink and take it).

Re: It's just not worth it.. I'm just not worth it

You are worth it! You are, you are! Honestly, not feeling worth it is that F*ing sleep deprivation talking. Sleep deprivation makes me feel worthless, sad, crazy, etc... (I just tried re-adjust my sleep schedule drastically and unrealistically this week and boy did that mess with my mind... bad idea...

Re: Melatonin works as good as Ambien... What say you?

Interesting thread. Knowing melatonin is a substance that naturally occurs in our brain, I assumed there weren't really any side effects. So reading this has been very interesting! I've been taking melatonin fairly regularly for the past 6 months and it has been great. I do have TMJ though, and migh...

The Social Aspect of Traveling

As a relatively new CPAP user (4-5 months in), I am only now realizing that sleeping in hotels, camping, and staying at people's houses has now taken on a whole new element. And, I've been avoiding it. Today was Bay to Breakers in San Fran, and I was supposed to stay with a group of people at a frie...

Re: LINKS to Battery operation, camping, power outage

Started using CPAP in January... it only dawned on me 2 days ago that camping is now a different situation. Can anyone help me sort through these links? I started clicking through but think I am missing the basics. Do you buy the battery? Or do you have to build it? What link should I look at first ...

Re: Are these possible side effects of the C Pap?

I'm going to second the recommendation to visit the doctor. Definitely see a doctor, I don't think any of us could figure out what is going on! I can share my experience with 1) yoga and 2) side effects of the machine. 1) yoga. When I take heated yoga classes and have not had enough water or food th...

Re: Wow! A first, after all this time

How does one download their data themselves?

(and why don't the doctors or people at the cpap machine place tell me much of anything?)
