Re: Sucessor to the PB420E or Sandman?
Sorry for not getting back to this sooner. I've been on PAP for almost 20 years - mostly on APAP. Started off with a Remstar CPAP in 1995 - loud - and had to adjust with a momometer and screw driver. Good for a while then needed something more. Then on a Respironics Virtuoso - not a very good auto. ...

Sucessor to the PB420E or Sandman?
Anyone who was on auto more than 10 years ago might know this - certainly the new auto machines from Resmed and Respironics are good, but wondering if anyone knows if the Puritan Bennett 420E GoodKnight series and/or the Sandman APAP's have been re-made into another brand since being discontinued? I...

Re: Apnea readings higher over the past few months.
I would agree the higher AHI over time is likely a setting issue with your machine. The advice about the range being too wide and and ramp still being used is good. I would disable the ramp and close up the range to maybe something like 8-13 and try that for a while. I don't know a thing about your ...

Re: Need Help Deciding-Intellipap vs S9
I understand not all PAPs offer exhale relief. I was saying C-Flex, EPR, and Smartflex (all trade/marketing slogans) are the same as the other "exhale relief is exhale relief" and one should not assume there is much of a difference to the user, accept for how, perhaps, the actual relilef is accompli...

Re: Need Help Deciding-Intellipap vs S9
All those fine adjustments I mentioned are defaulted from the factory to the following on the Intellipap: The apnea detection is at 10 seconds with 90% or more flow restriction and the Hypopnea detection is at 10 seconds for 50% or more reduction. These are the thresholds that trigger pressure incre...

Re: anyone have luck with a Tongue Retaining Device (TRD)?
In case people don't know what this is, here's a picture. It's a suction bulb that you hold in your mouth with your tongue inserted. It uses your teeth and lips as a lock so your tongue won't retract to its normal position. It holds your tongue way forward and out of your airway. http://webpages.cha...

Re: Need Help Deciding-new machine
I've been on XPAP for 16 + years and have used a ResMed Spirit, Respironics Remstar Auto, and P&B 420E. The P&B 420E ended up being my favorite, but its not sold anymore and is getting old. To top that, the Covidien Sandman model that replaced it is no longer on the market, so that's not an option. ...

Re: Difference between A-Flex and C-Flex ?
We should probably define the three different pressures found right at the mask to make this explanation make sense. The first pressure to consider is baseline pressure. The baseline pressure is what the machine is set for and what it is trying to hold constant to the best of it's ability (measured ...

Re: Bad dreams... anyone else?
I would like to contribute to this discussion. After 16 years on XPAP and some investigations, I firmly believe, somewhat contrary to those who already responded, that bad dreams on CPAP means there is a mal-function of the equipment or problem with therapy in some way. Some of the things that have ...

Re: DeVilbiss IntelliPAP Auto with Smart Flex???
Thanks to everyone who replied! I have made note of all the details. About the subject of 'no power brick', am I to understand there is no DC input available on the back of this machine? This would be useful in a camping or emergency situation, such as sleeping in the back of a car or SUV. However, ...

DeVilbiss IntelliPAP Auto with Smart Flex???
I'm in the market for a back up travel APAP with a humidifier and I'm looking at the new Intellipap auto with smart flex by DeVilbiss. Questions for owners - is the humidifier any good on this one? Does it have different heat settings? Also, is the smart flex an exhale relief feature or just a marke...
