Re: Mouth breathing... But zero large leaks???

I got sleepyhead, thanks for that! So, I checked it out and it does seem like I have some large leaks but it's hard to understand all the graphs and numbers. I'm going to keep checking it periodically. I also noted that some people say you can train your tongue to block the air so I'm trying that, t...

Re: Mouth breathing... But zero large leaks???

Oh, wow! I didn't know about Sleepyheads, thanks! So, all I need is a card reader to get the data. Right?

Re: Mouth breathing... But zero large leaks???

Good idea, Pugsy, thanks. You're right, I'm only looking at the LCD. I don't have the software, but my psychiatrist is a sleep specialist and he does. He suggested that I needed a sleep study to my PCP and also got him to prescribe the CPAP. I will have to make an appointment with him so he can read...

Mouth breathing... But zero large leaks???

Hi all, it's been a long time. Things were going pretty well. I had been using nasal pillows but recently switched back to my comfort gel nasal mask because I was getting bad TMJ pain. It has seems almost entirely gone away. Now, my wife is telling me I am breathing through my nose with my mask on. ...

Re: New CPAP user... My experience so far

Yeah, by and large I think I've been lucky, too. I switched to a nasal pillow mask about two months ago. Seems to be going fine. I noticed that my pressure increased, though. I've been having "fun" with my insurance and Apria recently. I called Apria to get my 6 month resupply. Apria took the order,...

Re: Do people "break in" ComfortGel Blue cushions?

I use that mask and found it to be uncomfortable at first, but it got better. I haven't replaced the cushion yet so that will be interesting.

Re: New CPAP user... My experience so far

Oh yeah, I forgot that I had another thing to report. I was looking at the literature that came with my mask. As a man and a geek, I rarely read instruction manuals. But, I was looking at the one for my mask and noted that it said a setting on my machine should match the number printed on the bottom...

Re: New CPAP user... My experience so far

I thought I would check in with the forum. Some people said my thread had helped them, so I didn't want to completely abandon it. Work has kept me very busy lately. But, mostly I haven't posted because I didn't have much to say. I haven't been using APAP/CPAP long enough to feel like I could offer a...

Re: New CPAP user... My experience so far

Another poster contacted me by PM and also said he had a stiff neck in the beginning and suggested, as well, that it may be due to either us staying in one position too long or that we aren't used to not tossing and turning in our sleep. So, there ya go. I do think the various things like aromathera...

Re: Newbie-- Mask yankoff problem

I've been "journaling" my experiences in another thread (New CPAP user... my experiences so far) and most, if not all, that you are talking about is stuff I experienced. Give it a read and you'll get a lot of answers in there too from the knowledgeable people here. I used to yank my mask off, too. I...

Re: New CPAP user... My experience so far

I'm not sure how many days in I am at this point. If I'm not over thirty days now, I'm close. The nasal mask has definitely been better for me. Unbelievably to me, I feel more comfortable with it on. My neck still hurts. I don't know that happened. My spouse posits that I was trying to so hard to ke...

Re: New CPAP user... My experience so far

Pugsy: I read up on torticolis (sp?) but that didn't sound like. But more research led me to believe that my posture at work is contributing. I tend to sit with my head forward which strains neck muscles I guess. So, i'm working on it. I may see a doctor and find out if there's more to do than just ...

Re: New CPAP user... My experience so far

No, not really resolved much, CLW. I switched back to the nasal gel mask a few nights ago. My kids both came down with a fever and it was my weekend (shared custody) so I was up several times a night taking temperatures, administering fever reducers, and such. On top of that, I'm getting the worst p...

Re: New CPAP user... My experience so far

The last two nights have not been very good at all. I've had many awakenings and in the morning I feel tired and groggy. I'm not sure what the problem is. My neck is also sore on the left, back side. As much as I want to like the Swift, I'm very much starting to believe I need to go back to the Comf...

Re: New CPAP user... My experience so far

Well, my good fortune seems to be running low. The last two nights have been plagued by awakenings. I just can't seem to sleep the night through. Last night, in fact, at 4 am I woke with a start and practically ripped my mask off. I don't know why. Maybe I felt like I wasn't getting enough air? I ju...
