Yes, I have known people who have died, that had sleep apnea and did not use or refused to use a CPAP machine.
Normally the primary cause of death is heart failure. Apnea is secondary cause.

Re: habit forming
You ask?? is using a CPAP habit forming... Hopefully Yes, it should be a darn good habit to acquire. Can you become dependent on a CPAP. NO!! You "MAY" live to be 100 yrs old whether or not you use a CPAP. But I doubt that you'll make it, especially since a Doctor has advised you to acquire one and ...

If she is going to put the dehumidified waste water into "your" CPAP, then you have too much life insurance..

Re: Nose Pillow slips
Please go back up to the user control panel and fill in as much about your equipment that you know, so that members can offer suggestions for your malady. I use the Swift Lt pillows mask and have absolutely no issues with leaking. If you have a properly fitted pillows mask, then you should not need ...

Re: 1st powerage on CPAP
I have lost power at night on several occasions and woke up immediately. Probably never tried to breath more then twice. lol.. I think its because of my sensitivity to the pressure change. Thats one reason I use CPAP instead of APAP.

ALWAYS!!! Carry on any medical/drugs that you will need.. NEVER!! check your CPAP. I know, you are probably saying...but the plane is a non-stop.. your CPAP may never even get loaded, OR it won't get un-loaded, and if it gets unloaded will it be in the same condition that it was when you gave it to ...

Re: AHI Numbers at beginning ?
I my opinion, your DME is blowing more then your CPAP machine. A reading of <5 AHI is a standard for acceptable CPAP therapy. You didn;t say what your pressure is, but it definitely needs tweaking upward if you are still getting the same as your study. What benefit is that? Your compliance requireme...

Our allergy season started back in mid-Feb with oak as the main culprit among too many others to mention.. I take Zyrtec regularly then or whenever the need arises and it works very good for me. No alterations to my AHI either. Helps me sleep much better also.

As long as I am getting the best possible pressure that reduces my apneas to as low as possibly with the greatest amount of comfort, the pressure number dosen't matter.

Re: new, introducing myself, so far so good
Al.. Its going to take awhile to really get acclimated. The saline nasal rinse is good. and I'm glad it works well. Works well for me also, although the air pressure from the CPAP usually unclogs my nose. Sore nose and redness sounds like maybe you are tightening up the mask straps too tight. Yep, w...

RIck..I have the same machine and it is definitely a sorry design by Respronics. It has happened to me once or twice. I don't visually check my machine daily, so it cold have laid on the floor for 3-4 days before my cleaning day. The rubber band is a good suggestion. You would think that when a comp...

Re: Possible Fix for Moving Chin Straps?
I took about a 2 inch piece of the gripper part of velcro and sewed it on the under side of the headband part. It sticks into your hair, grips great, and is not painful.

A very enviable report. The aid of a chin strap might help with the leaks. Otherwise don't touch a thing.

Perhaps you have the mask a bit too tight OR even though your numbers look good the pillows might be the wrong size.
