Re: Wheat Sensitivity?

Sure, NightMonkey, I do not doubt that the data would show severe events. I actually don't need the data to tell me that I am not breathing. It happens just when I have barely even fallen asleep. And yes, I DEFINITELY know I don't have to follow everyone's advice. That piece of advice is the best he...

Re: Wheat Sensitivity?

Janknitz, Thanks for your thoughts! I have totally eliminated grains before for about 6 months and felt quite good. I've never fully gone the way of Grok, but I know how to bake with nut flours and such. It's a challenge, but worth it. Wheat has been rare for me in the past few months, but I've blow...

Wheat Sensitivity?

Hi everyone, I've posted here before once or twice, but not much. At the risk of starting out negative here, I guess I'm just in denial about my situation and haven't felt it would help to talk about it, because I don't think it's possible to resolve it. (because the insurance/money situation frustr...

Re: Two Things

I used chin-up strips - http://www.chinupstrip.com/ They work really well. (The only reason I stopped using them is because I have started wearing a bite guard and it naturally makes me keep my mouth closed.) With these strips, you can open your mouth just a little in case you need to cough or sip s...

Re: Is there a chinstrap that holds your mouth closed

If you'd consider something other than a chin strap... I have been using Chin-up Strips http://www.chinupstrip.com/ for the last week and that has solved my open-mouth problem. They sort of hold your bottom lip up, so you can open your mouth (top lip) a tiny bit to cough or drink water, but the mout...

Re: Water in humid. tank ?

@ Motor - If you don't want to use the humidification, how about detaching the humidifier from your machine?

I'm feeling for your poor skin!
Thanks! I did well with the Chin-Up Strips last night. But will be trying milk of magnesia, or Polygrip tonight.

Re: I was optimistic and determined

Thanks to everyone's encouragement to keep trying, I've figured out that the Chin-Up Strips seem to work. The last two nights, I have used them and slept with the machine until about 6 am! I haven't done that in the two months that I've been on CPAP. I'm so happy to have some sort of success , becau...

Re: Taping Mouth Shut Question

Anyone try this chinstrap with any luck? Tape idea REALLY freaks me out....But at age 62m what doesn't? I am considering trying: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/premium-chinstrap-mouthleak.html Hi Lucy, I just received that chinstrap yesterday and it was annoying for me. (I use a Swift FX for Her ...

Re: I was optimistic and determined

Thanks to everyone for the help. I'll take note of everything, follow some suggestions, and keep trying. Last night I slept without the machine at all, and boy did I get a great night's sleep! I just wish it could be that way every night. Back to the CPAP tonight.

Re: I was optimistic and determined

Thanks so much for these quick responses. I'm sure I sound like everyone else at the beginning... It's a crap shoot finding a good mask and I can see that. I'll check out sleepnation.tv. Sounds like a good option for testing masks. I will take the suggestion and consider the Hybrid. I think one more...

I was optimistic and determined

...to make CPAP work for me. I was patient. Now I just feel defeated. I cannot find a mask worth its weight in peanuts. I have four masks, one of which the insurance wouldn't pay for. My DME provider was horrible. They didn't tell me much about each mask before asking me which I wanted. They didn't ...

Re: Am I stuck with this thing for life?

This is my first post here. I just got my CPAP machine at the end of December. What a Christmas gift! Groan. I was also thinking the other day that I don't want to be stuck with this thing for the rest of my life. I used to wake up gasping for air as a child.. not too often, but I clearly remember i...
