Re: I can't fall asleep, nothing works.
Catherine, This is how I was in the beginning. I was afraid to sleep with the mask, had anxiety, and the stress caused me to have insomnia. My trouble now lies in keeping it on all night and NOT removing it. I am trying to learn how. Once I do that, I will be on the road to better sleep and better h...

Re: Anyone hear of this new treatment?
Thank you to everyone who checked out that information. I guess it is scary to try something experimental, but at some point, there has to be a different solution than sleeping with a mask. As medical technology progresses, and Sleep Apnea is more and more talked about, there will be new technologie...

Anyone hear of this new treatment?
http://www.imtheramedical.com/index.php I sent off my name and number to these people to see if maybe it can help me, since after two sleep studies, I am still unable to keep the mask on during an entire nights sleep. I yank it off and do not recall doing so. It has been 7 months since diagnosis and...

Insensitive article, or am I too sensitive to the comment?
Hi Folks...been a while since I have logged on, but while conducting a search in an answer as to the feeling of falling and your body jerks when falling asleep, I found this article. Really....this person made some insensitive comments about sleep apnea in his last paragraph. http://www.straightdope...

Re: 4 month check up today...another sleep study
Wow...so many excellent replies. I was not online yesterday because I am in the midst of moving. I am going to call the Insurance company today and question them. Then, I am going to call the DME and ask a "What if" question or two, or more. If all else fails, I will purchase my own apap machine. Th...

4 month check up today...another sleep study
So...today was my four month check and although I am at 100% compliant, I am not keeping the mask on for four hours or more. At best, my average is 2.5. The doctor has ordered and scheduled another sleep study in hospital because they want to see me tearing the mask off at night...as how they put it...

Re: Adjusted but not 100%
Thank you for the suggestions. It would be nice to put the machine in a different room, but that wont happen. As for taping it to my head? I could try that too and tonight I think I will. Not sure I can handle the mitten suggestion as I hate my hands and feet to be hot. I will also try to talk mysel...

Adjusted but not 100%
Hi everyone, its been a little while since I have been on here, but things are going alright, to a degree. I have totally adjusted to the use of the nasal pillows and now I cant put the mask on till I am sure I want to fall asleep because when I do put it on, I am asleep in minutes. Its totally soot...

Re: Insurance payments and my payments do not match
To answer everyone's questions, I have a $2,000 deductible and after I meet it they pay 80%. I am the only person on my insurance, so meeting this will take time. Also, I just noticed on my Aetna Claims online that they applied the deductible to my OUT OF NETWORK charges. TO me, this is unacceptable...

Insurance payments and my payments do not match
I know we have gone over this in the past, but I am confused. In January when I received my entire CPAP machine and supplies, I was told to leave a payment of $300.00 and I did. The amount on the charges stated $1,250.00. This would leave me a balance owed of $950.00, of which the DME sent me a bill...

Re: Best place to find individual Health Insurance ??
I purchased Aetna Health coverage as an individual in 2006. At the time, it was $115.00 a month. 5 years later, it is $252.00 a month, but in December, it was $259.00 a month but I was told my rates were actually dropping, not going up. I am grandfathered in with an existing plan since the plans hav...

Re: taking off mask while asleep
Surely I'm not the only one who does this. I wake up to find my mask next to my bed and cpap off. None of the straps are unbuckled, I evidentally just slide it up over my head. I have no memory of doing this and don't know how to correct it. I have an appt with the sleep dr on the 29th, but wanted ...

Re: Swapping out a mask with DME
My DME never asked for the mask back nor did they say anything negative about me getting a new one. I guess I will know when the paperwork arrives from the Insurance company as to what they pay for and what they don't.

Re: Newbie-- Mask yankoff problem
1. Why do I yank the mask off if it is improving the quality of my sleep (which it surely is)? Do all newbies go through this phase?? 2. Should I use the mask and machine during waking times- reading a book or playing Sudoku or watching a movie? Would this help my face get used to the mask and decr...
