Re: New to this, and I have some questions

Thanks, I'm hopeful that the software will give me a better idea of what is actually going on during the night. Any recommendations regarding where to pick up a cheap card reader? Ditto on the WalMart card reader. You will also want take a look at your settings and if it were me I would have them w...

Re: Help interpreting 1st numbers

360, Interesting update! I'm always looking for little tidbits like this to see if I can make things even better. After reading your post I folded up a bath towel and put it underneath my husband's SleepPapPillow(not cheap) last night and his leak line was almost flat! Could it be something as simp...

Re: Help interpreting 1st numbers

One trend I'm starting to see is that along with a more level pressure is that I slept for a couple of hours at 4.0 and eventually dipped back down to there. It's no wonder my sleep got worse when I tried to raise my minimum pressure a few weeks ago. It looks to me with an elevated head I need very ...

Re: Help interpreting 1st numbers

Yes...you would think that having your head lay more flat would make for a better airway but for me it's the exact opposite. One of the pillows is like a brick so my head is definitely elevated. We'll see how I feel in the morning. It's funny, I can't wait to go to sleep, not because I'm dead tired ...

Re: Help interpreting 1st numbers

I had another breakthrough over the last couple of nights. I was struggling to get a good night sleep for several nights and could not figure out for the life of me what went wrong as my settings were the same, etc. Then I remembered that we had bought a couple of new pillows and I went from using t...

Re: Help interpreting 1st numbers

If I understand: your AHI is lower when your min pressure setting is at 5.0, correct? WOW...thanks for putting that together. Is this the data you're looking for? https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_ZKXI8bUequo/TYaQudw182I/AAAAAAAAADY/IiOkNmNMe3s/Document1.jpg One of my days was messed up because I ...

There we go...not perfect but better. I'm a little stumped. I'm going to drop it back to 5 tonight and see what happens.

Re: Why doesn't my S9 respond?

I usually have apneas 10 - 12 seconds long with occasional apneas as high as 25. It helps to have an oximeter if you're concerned. I generally don't worry about apneas at 18 seconds unless I get a lot of them. If it's once in a while, I figure it's just a fluke. Don't want to hijack this thread but...

Re: Help interpreting 1st numbers

Hey Avi....I'm practically neighbors with them then. We were just outside of the path. I must say with the recent wrath of tornadoes hitting metro areas I no longer disregard the warning sirens. DoriC, I'm glad you've enjoyed the posts. This whole process has been a real eye opener. I tend to get a ...

Re: Unsupportive Spouse (A Brief Rant)

Just have him read this thread and he'll come around. If he doesn't after reading these posts show him the couch He'll also find that when you sleep you're more than likely a lot more fun to be around if you're anything like me. Take away my sleep and true love is the only reason I'm still married b...

Re: Sleep Apnea, to treat or not to treat!!!

To purely answer the question. 100% treat and then decide if it's worth it. For me it came down to this. My wife kicked me out of the bedroom as I think all spouses should if the offender is unwilling to get checked out. BUT that does not work when you're on vacation. I spent 4k on the nicest vacati...

Re: Ok to try and breathe through nose? Same effect as mouth?

Hey Jara...be glad you found this forum so early on your journey. I just lumbered through 10+ years of a cheap non-data compliant machine before buying my new auto with data and having that machine with the assistance of the members here has truly been a game changer. I'm generally a mouth breather ...

Re: Help interpreting 1st numbers

Thanks 360. After re-reading the article in my above posted link that the prevalence of OSA's numbers are peaking at the ages of 50 to 69 and then go down, and your suggestion of the S9 Autoset , I am going to check with my sleep DOC, if it is possible to lower my NUMBERS. BTW, this sleep DOC is no...

Re: Help interpreting 1st numbers

As to suggesting that I switch to S9 Autoset, sorry, I would not let a dumb CPAP decide on pressuring my lungs. Our CPAPS are very crude machines. To let a flow generator guess the the pressure and the air mixture at the alveoli, 6 to 7 feet away, is ludicrous. Avi...you wonder why I'm treating my ...

Re: Help interpreting 1st numbers

If you have a severe OSA what do I have???: I'm not new to apnea but I am new to reading the numbers and dialing in treatment. That said your leak numbers are not good and if I were you I would call your DME and tell them you want an S9 Autoset...period. If they won't change you out, go see your Dr...
