Did you get a copy of the sleep study? If not, request a copy. Have her look at the pulse ox graphs and statistics. You might even look into renting / borrowing a pulse oximeter to use at home. Understanding that ignoring apnea is like putting a plastic bag over your head until you almost pass out t...

Many of the BC/BS plans (most??) specify replacement supplies "as medically necessary." Now good luck finding a useful definition of what this really means. According to my patient rep at BC/BS of Illinois, they want you to have a prescription for supplies, but won't commit to any timetable or defin...

PAD-A-Cheek and the hybrid
As many of you know, I have had the hybrid for a couple of weeks now. When I was waiting for the hybrid to arrive, Karen was looking for beta testers for PAD-A-Cheek on the hybrid. I got the strap pads early last week. Although I have had issues with the hybrid, the pads worked well. The pads come w...

Ebay seems to be the auction site of choice for pulse ox equipment. Just curious, why the BCI? There are alot more of the Nellcors available and they have memory as well. The best interface SW I've seen is Profox http://www.profox.com , expensive, but you might try contacting them to see if they hav...

Kay, The pictures aren't actually posted on here, you have to have them hosted on a web site somewhere first. Then you post a link to the pictures. If you don't have a web server, you can use a hosting service like http://www.photobucket.com . Once you have uploaded the picture to photobucket, it sh...

Heres a thought. The original poster that promted me to start this thread gave us an idea. If JCAHO certification REQUIRES these followups to get and maintain certification, we should complaining LOUDLY and in force to JCAHO. However, as I understand it, JCAHO is run by the organizations that it was...

I also agree there is some value to allowing guests. However, all to often guest privileges are abused to SPAM us or to intentionally obscure the poster's history. Registered users have the ability to identify the equipment they use and demonstrate a historical knowledgebase which we can use to dete...

Remember tho, most of the people who are going to be active here are people who went looking for more information somewhere, and the really active peeps are the ones who were pissed off at the dmes. Yer results are going to be pretty tilted! While speaking of tilt, remember too that the inactive on...

All of this depends on your particular insurance company as to how they process and pay. As inacpapfog said, some will base it on a documented medical need, others pay strictly by billing code. So if they pay strictly by billing code, the DME gets the same $ if they give you a $255 PB or an $900 top...

I'm not going down without a fight, I promise. And I am an exclusive side sleeper, or at least 99.9% of the time. Occasionally I wake up on my back in surprise. Now, the question is, how many pillows have you bought since being on cpap? Maybe you're not using the right one with this mask. I have my...

My DME is actually pretty good about followup. ... I must live in a different world I guess.... I'm glad to hear some positive responses. I'm sure that there must be more out there, but it is unfortunate that an overwhelming majority of us don't get basic support and follow up from our DME, especia...

LoRi, Good luck. I haven't noticed the clips being a problem for me. I wish I were content with my current mask. Unfortunately, I'm definately a mouth breather and resolved to a full face mask of some type. Hopefully tonight will even be an improvement over last night. One thing I have noticed is th...

Re: Medicare Pays!
... They sent me a new hose, filters, nasal pillows and the nose piece. Only the headgear was omitted. Medicare was billed $291, they paid $192 and the insurer paid $48. I wonder what is the actual cost of the parts and how much profit the DME made on this transaction. Well I'm sure cpap.com is mak...
