sneezing

Jack, I started cpap treatment last Dec. Didn't matter if I used the nose pillow mask or others, also did the c-flex machine and etc. Had no problem at night with sneezing or runny nose, but during the day all of sudden my nose would suddenly start dripping and/or I'd have a sneezing fit. Seemed to ...

the numbers and bi-pap

Gilda I am so happy to read your post. After two sleep labs I was put on the Remstar c-flex at a 20 setting, hard to breathe out against! Ten went to the Remstar which is auto-titrated, that was much better, but still had significant apneas and the machine was topping out at 20 a lot. So have been t...

thanks

Thanks rested gal,
I've been reading a lot about the surgeries and they don't sound that great as far as helping. I'll check the sites you mentioned.

thanks

Hey, thanks for the replies. I'm not giving up, thanks to this forum. I am using a TAPS dental device, and I sleep on my side. Planning on losing weight (I'm 60 lbs overweight). I don't like the idea of surgery at all, especially after what I've read on this forum. Has anyone had a positive experien...

surgery

Did you have your surgery to "cure" your apnea, or ??? My doc wants me to consider it in order to lower the pressure I require, at least 20 cm .

trying not to be discouraged...

Expectations were dumped on again today...I've been using the Remstar auto titrator for 4 weeks, took the software card to my DME & dr., and my numbers aren't good. 98.9% of the time my pressure was topping out at 19. (Used regular cpap at 20 for 4 wks previously, didn't feel rested), My AHI average...

mouth open, sore jaw

Sore jaw...ouch, been there, done that. Before I knew I had OSA, I was grinding my teech & dentist made me a "nightguard," similar to the sports mouthpieces you can buy and mold with hot water, except this was better. But doesn't keep my mouth shut. Air will leak thru your lips even with a device, b...

Prevacid for decongestion?

After 7 weeks on my Remstar w/c-flex (pressure at 20), my dr. is switching me to an auto titrator (yippee!). But she also is having me take prevacid, which is a antiacid med, in the evening to help with my congestion. Anyone heard of this? I was congested at first, she gave me flonase and a prescrip...

pressure high

Hey Jolene, I'm also new to cpap (6 wks), I'm 50, overweight, and figure I've had OSA for years. My dr. has my pressure set at 18. I'm renting a machine, but about ready to buy an autopap. Using the Remstar cpap with c-flex but don't even notice the c-flex part. I'm getting used to the pressure but ...

oral appliance

Helen, I have a TAPS (Thornton Adjustable Positioner) http://amisleep.com/home.html and although it does set my lower jaw into a more forward position, it doesn't take care of the sleep apnea. I also have severe apnea. The device does help me keep my mouth closed, but it cost about 500.00 and I'm no...

cpap problems

Can you rent a machine somewhere? My pressure is at 20 and I also had ear problems with the nasal pillows. From what I've read here an autopap machine would work best for you, but I'm not sure the nasal pillow masks are the best to use for them, check the postings and there is a lot of info out ther...

Wow do I feel lucky. I live in a small town and had to do the sleep study 60 miles away, but from the first time I called I got lots of info, the tech talked to me, the sleep lab provided breakfast and a paper, and I met with the dr. an two hours after the study and she explained it all. Been throug...

trying masks...

My dr. gave me the best advice as to which machine (brand) and mask type--RENT. Insist on it. She (the doc) said that even if they didn't want to, insist on it. Of course it helps to have insurance and have a DME available. I don't know if you can rent off the web. Since I'm a new hosehead (three we...

Thanks for the response. I've done 2 studies and did try the b-pap. Didn't work so well. Using the respironics c-flex machine. I was having apnea events 55 times an hour during the study, with low oxygen levels. Can't remember the numbers. The oxygen did come up after using the cpap during the study...
