Re: Renting vs. Purchasing CPAP
I got a good laugh. (Well, not really.) I called my insurance and asked. They said hold on and we'll call the DME company to find out. You have to be kidding. I told them not to bother, as of course I had already talked to the DME company and the DME company said it is all up to the insurance company.

Re: Heated hose for ResMed S9 or not?
Still no CPAP. I finally had another appointment with my doctor. They wrote me a prescription that specifically says ResMed S9 Autoset with ClimateLine hose. Now if the DME doesn't give me the equipment I'll report them for not filling the prescription properly.

Re: Heated hose for ResMed S9 or not?
Still dealing with the DME. No CPAP yet. Ugh. Hopefully very soon. My doctor has now specifically requested the heated hose, so that is now an official doctor request that the DME cannot balk on. The DME has agreed to provide it. Thank you to everyone for the tips and encouragement. My doctor specif...

Re: Heated hose for ResMed S9 or not?
Interesting that people are recommending the S9 Autoset. I was going to consider myself fortunate if I could get the S9 Escape, and real fortunate if I could get the S9 Elite. I wasn't going to try for the Autoset because the doc wrote the prescription for a fixed pressure and a fixed EPR value. I f...

Re: Heated hose for ResMed S9 or not?
Wow! This forum is GREAT! I can't believe all these great responses so far! Thank you to everyone who has replied, and keep the replies coming! I learn something new with each post from you all! There seems to be a consensus, made especially clear in SleepyB's reply, that without the heated tube, no...

Renting vs. Purchasing CPAP
I got my authorization for my CPAP. According to the insurance, they want me to rent the CPAP and Heated Humidifier, and buy the mask, hose, and filter. Is there any successful way to convince an HMO to buy the equipment instead of doing a rental? I don't want to feel like I can't change HMO's witho...

Heated hose for ResMed S9 or not?
Hi everyone! I am brand new here (first post, yea!), and have my first question. I got my prescription for a CPAP (AHI during REM over 90, and over 40 overall!) and now it is time to dance the DME dance. My DME wants to give me an old ResMed S8 Escape II, and I would prefer the S9 Elite. We'll see h...
