Mouth breathing can do it. Do you have a humidifier? If so crank up the setting and see if that helps.

I lived in Phoenix too where you really need the humidifier but in other areas you might not need it as much.

I just let it go too long without cleaning it out I think. I use RO water so maybe that's the issue.

I noticed you do not need much exhale relief, as long as its less than inhale. Its like my body just wants there to be a difference. I have it set at "1" and that seems to do the trick.
