Re: Phillips / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread
Massive problems with address change Short version: Philips has now TWICE sent a replacement machine to my old address, two states away. I have spent many hours on hold+speaking with their customer service reps, and so far they cannot do *anything* right, as evidenced by once again sending the mach...

Re: Facial Redness
Here is a photo of my simplified and enhanced opus360 mask with the felt padding. Sorry it took so long. I just saw the private message today.
Sleep well.
Crap: "The image file you tried to attach is invalid." Why ????? Hmm, changed from jpg to png, got bigger but maybe now it works?

Re: Facial Redness
Hi MBix, My experience with a nasal pillow headgear is that rubber/latex content in the padding/straps of the headgear can cause an allergic reaction, or something a dermatologist might call "contact dermatitis". QUOTE: Contact dermatitis is a red, itchy rash caused by direct contact with a substanc...

Re: request: resmed s8 (any version) teardown/disassembly
Another update: I am still trying to make the machine work. I got hold of the **service** manual via a helpful user on another board. That board has a member-only section that contains a collection of service manuals. The manual has the following to say about error 1019 The following message is disp...

Re: request: resmed s8 (any version) teardown/disassembly
I would have tried the old cellphone trick of putting it in a bag of rice or in a plastic bag with the a can of moisture remover (used in basements and closets) for a couple of days. Using a hair dryer can force the water deeper into the machine. Generally speaking that is a good idea, but in my ca...

Re: request: resmed s8 (any version) teardown/disassembly
Time for a status update: A friend helped me get the tricky contact seated, and I reassembled the machine enough to test it. I am still getting "System Err 1019", just like Prion was saying happened to him, even after drying all the internals of the machine. Then we tried to short out the "CMOS batt...

Re: request: resmed s8 (any version) teardown/disassembly
I also couldn't find a reset. I used to jtag sat. IRDs so I have all the stuff, however no software to interface with this device. I agree it's the flow sensor or the other part. I looked all over for schematic to no avail. Water shorted something. It could be an IC, or something simple. I have des...

Re: request: resmed s8 (any version) teardown/disassembly
How easy was it to find a Torx screwdriver? I need a small diameter one to take apart my broken 420Es in the hopes I can make 1 good one from the 2 dead ones. I got stuck at unscrewing them open and haven't made it to the hw store yet. My partner said it would be difficult to find. Any halfway dece...

Re: request: resmed s8 (any version) teardown/disassembly
Thanks for posting prion. I had also found a GE part that looks like the one in the s8, see the link in update above. Interesting to hear that drying did not help in your case. I wonder if there is a hidden reset button somewhere, or a reset via external cable or an internal JTAG header. I am done w...

Re: request: resmed s8 (any version) teardown/disassembly
I am having some luck disassembling the machine now. I have found that the airflow sensor is a Honeywell AWM 730B5 (B5 not 85, CORRECTED). It is visible from the underside, next to the the fan motor. It appears that it is part of a side path of the main air path. I have also found another sensor tha...

request: resmed s8 (any version) teardown/disassembly
Can anyone help with some teardown/disassembly instructions and photos for a resmed s8 (any model, but I have the autosetII)? I'm trying somewhat desperately to repair it, as it is out of warranty and in good condition apart form a recent accident. Background: I overfilled the humidifier tank, got s...

Re: CPAP design wish list
Only if this can be firmly and completely turned OFF. Flashing lights (even faint ones) can wake some of us up. I've had to tape an index card over the window in my Hi5 humidifier because the orange light is enough to keep me from sleeping. Because I modified my mask so that the tubing does not go ...

Re: CPAP design wish list
Okay, I'll add some more of my own wishes. 4. headgear that is more like a headband, so that it is supported by forehead and back of head rather than top of head + back of head. I already modified my headgear to do that. 5. I also removed the strap that constrains the tube to be in the "straight up"...

Re: CPAP design wish list
7) A mask as comfortable as the Swift FX that does NOT blow the exhaust vent air right on the user or the cover just so it bounces back in the user's eyes or mouth. Damned straight! May I also add that the "universal joint" of my Fisher and Paykel model Opus Headgear is noisy because of all the air...

CPAP design wish list
What do people wish to see in their CPAP machines? I have some wishes, as follows: 1. an open hardware and software architecture, within reason 2. STANDARD interfaces and card formats: Use a plain USB port for data access and a compact flash data card for data storage 3. LED lights that blink every ...
