Re: Anybody used cpap in hospital lately?

As a Biomedical Equipment Tech, I routinely check in patient owned CPAPS and BIPAPS, our inspection is really just a visual check for safety defects and cleanliness. You would be surprised what we have seen over the years, even a few machines with Bugs in them. But mainly the occasional bad power co...

Re: will dst mess you up?

Well after three hours pressing buttons on IV Pumps, Monitors and Defibs, I am sitting here feeling exactly like I did before bipap, 4 months ago. I got to sleep from 10P to 115A, then from 7 to 10 after I got home. The first nap was useless as I was thinking about having to get up in the middle of ...

Re: Professional title of Sleep Doc?

My Sleep Doctor is the Pediatrician, It seemed kinda strange to sit in an exam room with little furniture and cartoons on the walls . But he knows his stuff about sleep medicine.

And when I pass him in the halls of Pediatrics or OB he always asks me how i'd doing, kinda like a free mini checkup.

Re: will dst mess you up?

That sounds like a fun night to me. With all this technology available seems as if someone would fix that little problem so a human can stay home and sleep. They did fix it for many items, but someone in Washington got the idea to change the switch date a few years ago. So the auto update had to be...

Re: Encore Pro 2

I could not get the 64 bit version on EP2.5 to install on my toy Fry's $150 barebones nettop machine (MSI Wind Box Atom D510 1.66Ghz), but it installed over 2.4 perfectly on my i5 laptop. As far as changes, the only ones that stood out were all on the DME side of things, It has a tick box; for examp...

Re: Is Encore Pro 2.4.12.2 64-Bit, the Newest Verssion?

Version 2.5 came ount 3/5/11. I see very little changes, mostly on the stuff onlhy a DME would use, ie. compliance data, they say there are changes to the perscription editing, but I haven't checked that out yet.

It does install over the older versions.

Re: Encore Pro 2

Encore 2.5 came out yesterday, am downloading it now. Will install this evening on my new PC to see what is different from 2.4. From the download site: This version of EncorePro includes several new features: Redesigned the device prescription user interface. Added the ability to assign unique ident...

Re: Help! My doctor blocked my ahi and cflex+.

When you change your pesscription using encore pro, there is a check box to have the machine delete the perscription from the card after it is up loaded, it is off by default. The only way to fix it is to insert it in the computer with encore pro and resave the perscription to the card with the box ...

Re: Bad dreams... anyone else?

Before BiPap I had the same dream about flying like a bird then gravity took over, almost every other night, I also used to have "out of body" day dreams where I was dreaming that I was dreaming and trying to wake myself up if that makes any sense. Now I just have regular dreams like I had when I wa...

Re: cpap in the hospital

And I certainly would NOT let a "maintenance" man touch it. Hell, I make the screeners at the airport change their gloves before they handle my machine. You know the TSA says I can do that. I am a little offended by that statement....we follow the same handwashing protocols your nurse or doctor fol...

Re: cpap in the hospital

Here at our hospital, someone from Biomed or Maintainance must look at the machine to verify that it is mechanically sound, and free of critters , and tag it as checked ok. Back in the day, before double insulated cases, we had to complete an electrical safety test (ground check, case leakage curren...

Re: For Grins - Some Pictures of My Vent/Screen

I know the Visions are getting long in the tooth, but they are good workhorses. As a small hospital ours don't get allot of hours, so still look and work like new.
thanks for the links by the way.

Re: For Grins - Some Pictures of My Vent/Screen

Somehow I had always thought of a ventilator being a huge machine on a wheeled stand. Had no idea they were so portable. Full Hospital vents; the ones they use for intubation, are just slightly bigger now days, most of the size is taken up by making room on the cart for a compressor, and a larger d...

Re: For Grins - Some Pictures of My Vent/Screen

I'm a Biomedical Equipment Technician at a hospital in Ohio, we have BiPap Vision machines, that must be the new and improved model, it looks to be about half the size. Several years back, I got to visit the Respironics factory for a class to service the Vision. Little did I realize then that not on...
