Re: do new masks need to be broken in?
Didn't you get to keep that original mask? That seems kind of strange if you didn't. Assuming that it IS the same size, it sounds like you'll have to tweak it a little more till you get it right. I'm not sure about a "break-in" period.......but I DO feel strongly that the one I've been using (UMFF)...

Re: Is waking up TORTURE? Looking to commiserate... :)
I'm pretty new to all of this as well (I've been on a CPAP since December 1st). For me, the biggest changes happened over the first month or so, although, I did notice an increase in my energy levels almost immediately. I've struggled with leak issues too and as frustrating as it has been, I have to...

do new masks need to be broken in?
Hello, I finally settled on a machine and mask of my own (I'd been using a loaner for 2 months). I got a bran new Quattro yesterday and I hate it. It feels different that the Quattro I had with my loaner machine despite being the same size and model. I'm wondering if it will get any better as I'm us...

Re: Prescription help. And do I need RX just for mask?
Thanks avi123, I have used the 431 and it was the best mask I''d tried. I figure I'd just go with the devil I know for now. At least I know I can make it work (mostly). Otherwise I'd be paying out of pocket for god-knows-how-many other masks that I've never even seen before, and still I might not fi...

Re: Prescription help. And do I need RX just for mask?
I'm looking for a Fisher & Paykel, either a FlexiFit 432 or a Forma. I am undecided but would take either on at this point in size small. cpapauction has one at a great price but they won't ship without a prescription either. *sigh*

Thanks OntarioKevin.
Did you ever try to get a prescription from your GP? I know my GP has copies/reports from my sleep Dr. (I also have copies) so I'm hoping they might write me a prescription ... wishful thinking?

Re: Prescription help. And do I need RX just for mask?
I had a long conversation with my doctor about his. He says he has been advised by his lawyers to put that condition on all his prescriptions. I explained about the price difference. Here in Ontario the government pays a portion of CPAP costs BUT only if you buy from "approved" suppliers. The approv...

Prescription help. And do I need RX just for mask?
I live in Ontario, Canada and written on my prescription is "only valid in Ontario". Cpap.com will not accept my prescription for purchase of a mask. I was hoping to be able to buy a mask cpapauction but it appears a prescription is required to buy a mask there as well. The place where I got my mach...

Re: Totally New to all this...
Welcome. I'm pretty new to all of this as well. I got my first machine on December 1st (a loaner machine) and have sorting out mask/leak issues ever since. I finally just got a new machine of my own and have settled on a mask that works the best for me. Great to hear that you're feeling better. I fe...

Re: POLL: What is your current 90/95% or constant pressure?
My pressure is currently 8 (was originally 7) but will go up to 9 or 10 when I see my Dr. this month (I had a second sleep study and my pressure needs to go up a bit, but not until I see the Dr. and get the "official" prescription for the change). I've been using CPAP since December 1st.

Re: I need help finding a mask that doesn't leak.
Here's an update: I extended my trial/loaner period for another month, so I have until the end of this month before I have to make a purchase. I'm still having leak issues. I had a second sleep study (for titrating) and my pressure is going up to 9 or 10. My machine is still set at 7 because they wo...

Re: I need help finding a mask that doesn't leak.
Thank you for all the responses. The day I posted this I went and exchanged my FlexFitHC431 med for a small and it's the best mask I've tried so far. My 30 day trial is up at the end of the month so I want to find something that I'm happy with before then. It's hard with the holidays and now that th...

I need help finding a mask that doesn't leak.
Hello, I've been using a CPAP since December 1st. I have a loaner machine right now and have tried out several different masks but I still haven't found one that doesn't leak. They gave me a nose mask to try but I haven't worn it longer than a few minutes. I know I sometimes sleep with my mouth open...

So, other than buying a new house (or spending a fortune insulating this one) ... any suggestions?
