Re: Ultra Mirage FF mask with pressure of 18
It sounds like either your mask is not the right size or maybe you haven't adjusted the forehead angle for the best fit. We have the angle one up from the bottom but we had to experiment until we found a comfortable position and that didn't leak. We don't use an 02 oximeter but our Dr ordered an ov...

Re: Ultra Mirage FF mask with pressure of 18
AHI= Apnea-Hypopnea-Index, it's the total of AI and HI per hour for the night. Ideally, this number should be <5.0 to reflect satisfactory therapy but most people feel better with a lower number. You shouldn't be feeling any air leaking into your eyes or coming out the top of the mask, the CO2 is e...

Re: Ultra Mirage FF mask with pressure of 18
Biotene?. Have you experimented with the humidifier? Do you have allergies, sinus problems? There's lots of tips here about controlling those issues. How's your leaks? Do you have software? I know, lots of questions! The Quattro and UM are similar but have a different design. It seems to be that th...

Re: Bedside table to prevent CPAP accidents
I just use an end table from my deceased parents first set of furniture which is more than 50 years old but in excellent shape, made out of solid wood, no fake wood and I set my machine on top of a computer mouse pad to prevent the machine from moving around on top of the table during the night. My ...

Re: Ultra Mirage FF mask with pressure of 18
Any reasons why you want to try another mask if this one is working for you at your pressure? Are your leaks under control, how's your AHI? My husband has been using the UMFF almost from the beginning and he does well with it so if it ain't broke....! I thought I would try one with a chin guard bec...

Is that Famous Amos from Atlanta, GA? How you doing? I've been moving along, trying to get use to using a FF mask since I'm a bad mouth breather. Glad to hear from you Amos.

Re: Diabetes
I was diagnosed with sleep apnea while a patient in a hospital back in the mid 90's, a nurse came into check on me during the night and I had stopped breathing. I finally got up the courage to undergo my first 2 night sleep study in 1999. I've been pre-diabetic since 2005 when my former primary care...

Ultra Mirage FF mask with pressure of 18
I started using my first FF mask last November 2010 since I've been on CPAP which dates back to 1999. My current CPAP pressure is 18. It will soon be time to contact Apria Healthcare to get a new FF mask with headgear. I haven't decided if I want to stay with the Resmed Ultra Mirage FF mask which I ...

Re: Using FF mask and sleep apnea
Yes, a mask with a chin rest is very different from a chin strap. Masks with chin rests let you open your mouth to breathe. The face mask you use ends just below your mouth, so if you open your mouth too much your bottom lip goes below the rim of the mask. The ones with chin rests fit below your ch...

Re: Using FF mask and sleep apnea
Have you tried a mask with a chin rest? Fisher and Paykel make them, also Hans Rudolf and Legend MD. With a chin rest? Is that different than a chin strap? When Apria's RT was out here a few months ago she brought out several samples of FF masks, one even went up under my chin but it wouldn't seal ...

Re: Using FF mask and sleep apnea
Do you "tinker" with the settings on your machine, do you change the pressure settings on your machine? We suggested the software so that you could see what might be going on in relation to why you don't feel so good. Using the software to view reports is not doing anything but looking. Some of us ...

Re: Using FF mask and sleep apnea
Do you "tinker" with the settings on your machine, do you change the pressure settings on your machine? My sleep doctor told me to never do that, if he decided that my pressure needed to be changed he would write an order and forward it to Apria whose RT would then come out and reset my machine. I'...

Re: Using FF mask and sleep apnea
If you are experiencing a great deal of difficulty with the mask sealing and all the sounds, it is possible that leaks or just the sounds are waking you and disrupting sleep. If the leaks are significant enough they can compromise therapy and allow events to happen. Either can impact how you feel i...
