Re: Will try a chin strap first, rather than a new mask

I went to the dentist today to have my teeth cleaned and the subject turned to CPAP (because of the red mark on the bridge of my nose?) The technician said that there are dental problems associated with using a chin strap: it can cause increased sensitivity over time because the surface enamel wears...

Re: Can you explain leaks?

BTW there is a misunderstanding about the term "median". It's another way of saying "average", determined by adding up all the data and dividing it by the hours, but it doesn't mean that 50% of the time the data were below the median and 50% above. That's the "mean". For example, if you had one huge...

Re: Resmed™ S9 Climateline hose durability

I have noticed the signs of wear in my ClimateLine hose at the junction of the hose and the fitting that goes on the machine. I do the following to eliminate it: I wrap the hose around the base of a lamp before it goes very far toward me. The sharp bend is eliminated and it's a free fix. I don't kno...

Re: Poll: How long on cpap? How old are you?

I'm really happy that your treatment has been so successful! One caveat: I wouldn't discontinue xPAP even with your results. To me it's similar to somebody stopping blood pressure medication because they have good results. It's possible that if you stop treatment your OSA problems could return.

Re: Is one increment on yellow tab normal usage for S9 H5i?

I use between one increment and three increments below max depending on the room temperature and humidity. Right now, in winter, I reach the latter with the temperature set at 82 and very low humidity (I live in New Mexico at 6940 ft.); at times with mild temperatures and higher humidity, with the t...

Re: Quality of S9 equipment

I'm sorry to hear that you don't like your S9. Did your research lead you to a false conclusion? My S9 does everything that it is supposed to do; I don't care about the external appearance. I'm not going to do anything with it except breathe through it, and it does an excellent job reducing my AHI t...

Re: Read to know more...

In case you don't know, if you hold down both the info and setup buttons simultaneously on the S9 you will get a detailed report of "last night" performance. If you hold down both the setup and button to the right for three seconds you get into clinician mode where you can set the machine configurat...

Re: S9 raining!!!

The ClimateLine hose is supposed to be used without any covering. I would suggest removing the hose cozy and see what happens. If you set the temperature too high with the cozy you can create a problem overheating the hose and create a system fault.

jonquiljo, with numbers like that you have nothing to worry about. Whatever leaks there are are totally inconsequential. Congratulations on those results!

Re: Sore, red bridge of nose....

cflame1, I sleep very well thank you now that I have my APAP machine and two masks. Would you like to pay $27.74 for a small piece of cloth? Be my guest, contact The CPAP Shop!

Don't be foolish like me. Buy it from Karen for $16.50 including shipping. Still expensive but much more reasonable.

Re: Sore, red bridge of nose....

I bought the A/B type forehead protector from The CPAP shop at the prices that I mentioned earlier. Since "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me" I won't buy anyCPAP equipment from them again.

OT Medicare savings

As part of the new Health Care Reform, $350 million has been added to fight Medicare fraud. Changes also include stricter sentences for those who commit crimes and more oversight for companies allowed to bill Medicare. During 2009, the federal government won or negotiated approximately $1.63 billion...

Re: Problem with detailed graphs

I don't know what the figure is without looking -- I'm too lazy right now -- but if you look at the data report you'll see that there are only a certain number of days of detailed data that can be retained. At least that's the case with my ResMed S9 Autoset machine and ResScan 3.12 software.

Re: interpreting & correlating graph data?

With my S9 set on APAP, if there is a leak then the machine goes right to the highest pressure to try to open my airway (unsuccessfully). It happens once or twice per night for me. My remedy is to re-adjust the mask to stop the leak at that pressure then restart the machine and go back to sleep. If ...

..and they cost way too much money! For $19.99 (+ $7.75 shipping) you get about $0.50 worth of microfleece material sewn into a very simple pattern. It probably costs Pad A Cheek $0.75 to make. Anybody with a sewing machine can make as many as they want in 30 minutes. Sorry Karen but I'm very, very ...
