Re: Am I ever going to make it past 4 hours?

Thats just part of fitting CPAP into your life. The mask is the smallest part of the system, but in some ways the biggest element. If you aren't "into" your mask, you can have the best machine and it doesn't matter. Some of us go through a dozen masks before finding one that suits us. CPAP is great ...

Re: Hello

Welcome! No matter what you have trouble with, someone has had the same situation and you can compare notes, in a supportive and comprehensive atnosphere. It takes some work to get used to, and some "dinking around" to fit in to your sleep style, but solutions are out there.

Re: Depressed newbie saying hi

As a side note, I hope you enjoy the fact that half the people here ENVY you because you have gotten on-board at an age much younger than they did. People struggle for years before discovering it. This is a technology that is two or three generations old, so you have quite a bit more control and con...

Re: newbie. overwhelmed. REMstar Pro with CFLEX has E-25

I have a used machine that works if you can't find anything better. I picked it up off Craigs list, works fine, $80. I got it for travel and have since gotten an even smaller one.

Re: Firefighter new to cpap, in need of some help.

With CPAP, the mask, and your comfort with it, is a huge part of your success. Even though I've got a good DME I find it hard to really try masks in her office. She has a recliner, not a bed, and I find the mask works different prone. If you look at most of the posts here, many people go through a n...

Re: Complication fears. Lots of worries.

Well, sometimes fear is a good thing: if you use it to motivate yourself to make changes and work on these issues, it can be positive. The really good news is that you have figured it out early! And this solution requires no surgery ! If you look at the posts here, many of us went on year after year...

Re: Ok, so I am supposed to take this little teapot and do WHAT?

A couple of tricks I learned is 1) get the Netti Pot BOTTLE as it just seemed to work better for me, and instead of trying to control the mess, I just use it in the shower when I'm in there first thing in the morning. But you're right: its amazing how much stuff a body intercepts and stores up there...

Re: Traveling with CPAP

If it brings you peace of mind traveling to international destinations, you can bring a copy of your prescription and any misc documents you have for your cpap. I bring it and have never used it, Mexico and the Caribbean. As you probably know, CPAP devices do not count against your carry-on limit wi...

Re: The medical system as a whole relative to apnea

I wish I could honestly say that I picked my current sleep doc and DME because of my fine-tuned analytical research, but actually it was a random choice based on which doc could see me soonest when the recommended doc scheduled an appointment a month away. Even after a skeptical approach ( I read lo...

Re: System One

I have a PR System One and have been using it for about 90 days. I like it because it responds to the way I sleep, the heated humidifier very effective, and is very quiet. That being said, I should mention that just because it "splits" into 2 halves, ( airpump and humidifier ) you shouldn't assume t...

Re: Which hose management system?

Like so many things with CPAP, many of us fool around with solutions until they find one that works for them. I saw plans for a hose mgt device on here made from PVC and it has turned out to be just what I want: a simple high point between me and the box that keeps me from wrapping up in the hose an...

Re: New to CPAP-NEED HELP PLEASE!

As you can tell, Alicia, it's a lot like a "good news / bad news" joke: the bad news is that it's a bit tricky and there are many different ideas for you to work with. The good news is you have found this group, there is an abundance of support, and you WILL be able to manage your condition without ...

Re: Has caffeine affected your ability to maintain a low AHI?

I used to drink coffee by the beer mug, but since CPAP I just do 2 cups in the A.M. Good sleep beats the best stimulant.
