Dreamwear nasal cushion whistling
I've been using a Dreamwear mask for about a year. My husband also uses the same type, except that my frame is medium and the cushion small, and his has a large frame and medium cushion. Love the mask, but something seems to be going wrong with quality control. I buy pairs of cushions for each of us...

Re: New model - ResMed AirStart 10 CPAP has compliance data only
I have been using an Intellipap autoadjust machine for six years. I went all the way, bought the add-on data module and SmartLink software. I put it through the paces and gathered gobs of data. All the reporting has shown me is that I am better off leaving the machine set at the pressure I was orig...

Re: Exhaling forcefully in sleep
Hi, and thanks for your comments. Hubby has the Resmed Escape II that formerly was mine. It doesn't have any data capabilities. His mask is a Respironics Comfort Gel (discontinued) and his pressure is 9. His apnea was diagnosed and his CPAP was prescribed by a pulmonologist. He is inhaling and exhal...

Exhaling forcefully in sleep
My husband and I both have OSA and sleep with CPAP machines. He has my former machine, a single level CPAP with expiratory relief settings available. He has the relief set to the maximum, so it goes from a 9 to a 6 when he exhales. When I am awake and he is asleep, his breathing often sounds somethi...

Re: keeping your mouth closed while sleeping
I upgraded my mouth guard "internal chin strap". I sacrificed a third night guard to get enough of the soft material to permanently glue the upper and lower guards together. Most of the holding strength is in the excess material where the tongue goes, and the excess smooshed out to the roof of my mo...

Re: keeping your mouth closed while sleeping
I'm afraid the worst thing that'd happen is that the air leaking out of your mouth would not be available to hold your airway open, and you would have increased apneas and hypopneas.Iowamv wrote:I guess the worst thing that'd happen is that I'd wake up with a dry mouth (and some aerophagia), right?

Re: I find this ridiculous, but I am a NOOB
That all sounds about right. Hubby gives his teeth a quick brush and he's out. He is also very non-compliant with his CPAP therapy. I have to wash and do the skin care regime, brush and floss, take meds, put fresh distilled water in the tank, assemble the mask and put it on, and it's a half hour if ...

Re: How do you deal with the DMEs?
I don't deal with the DMEs at all. I got so fed up with things when I started therapy, that it is just not worth the hassles to get what little insurance pays toward the equipment. My Intellipap was very reasonably priced from CPAP.com. I have tried several different masks, and now that I have settl...

Re: OT: What did you name your CPAP? :>)
I named my first one Seymour the CPAP. When I gave it to my husband and purchased my new machine, I figured it should have a more feminine name. It is Celia.

Re: keeping your mouth closed while sleeping
I have been experimenting with what I think of as an internal chin strap. I purchased two boil-and-bite night guards. Molded one to my top teeth and one to the bottom teeth. Then I trimmed the back molar part off of each one and separated the soft material from the hard material out of the cut off s...
