Re: What does UARS look like in ResScan?

Dr. Park has said that measuring nasal airway pressure with a nasal cannula has been shown to correlate very closely with the much more difficult esophagal manometer test. Honestly, I can't remember whether I had a cannula during my sleep study. I was rigged up with a ton of the standard stuff, thou...

Re: What does UARS look like in ResScan?

I'm not too worried about centrals. When my pressure is high, they seem to dominate my AHI but my AHI rarely goes over 3.

Of more interest to me is UARS since the machine doesn't give you a nice count of those.

Re: H5i Humidifier Broken?

Re: the ClimateLine hose. This is what I was given. I had a "heated tube failure" error once or twice -- my DME said this was due to a defect in the humidifier; not the tube, but I don't know whether I believe it or not. In less than a year, I've had two ClimateLine hoses rupture in the area where t...

Re: Accuracy of S9 Autoset statistics?

I believe I saw somewhere else recently that minute ventilation is the measure of how much air you take in per minute. I tend not to graph it, because I don't think I've ever seen anyone explain how to interpret it. Presumably, a drop in minute ventilation is bad, but I don't know if I've ever seen ...

Re: A Couple of Questions

Hey Telle, I just wanted to throw in here that I'm going through something kind of similar. I don't have any answers, but maybe it's nice to know that you're not alone. I take Zoloft for depression (in the evening because it seems easier for me to remember to take it then). I've been on CPAP for alm...

Re: What does UARS look like in ResScan?

I hope I'm not overloading folks with too much information. Last night's ResScan graph was even more interesting: http://cl.ly/2h3i1Q2T262N0r2M2p0w/2011-08-11_ResScan.png I have my machine set to APAP 13 to 20, on the theory that I might need higher pressure to treat flow limitations that are not qu...

What does UARS look like in ResScan?

If I suspected UARS (and I'm waiting for another sleep doctor appointment to explore this), what would I look for in ResScan? My brief history: I went to a sleep doc a year ago, because I was fatigued and sleep apnea runs in my family. When filling out the Epworth test, I recall that I answered yes ...

Pulse oximeter - what to look for in reports?

Just got my Contec CMS-50E oximeter yesterday. The SpO2 levels look fine to me, but the software flagged a lot of pulse events: http://cl.ly/3Q1x3o0o0y2Q0l3a473Y/Screen_shot_2011-08-02_at_11.41.46_AM.png On the other hand, I had it set to the default of a pulse event being a change of at least 6 bpm...

What's the rationale behind AHI < 5?

I've always been curious why an AHI less than 5 seems to be considered "good enough"? Because I was just looking at my data for last night and I had an AHI of 2.7 and while that is a lot lower than what I had in my pre-CPAP initial sleep study, it is still 2.7 events per hour and I would think that ...

Re: Cognitive impairment - Could it be non-optimal CPAP?

Slept with a borrowed Quattro FX last night. It felt like it was leaking numerous times throughout the night, much worse than the Swift FX, but I was very surprised when I looked at the data that my maximum leak # was LOWER than it typically was with the Swift FX without covering my mouth at all. Do...

Re: Cognitive impairment - Could it be non-optimal CPAP?

Short update. I finally had a night with really good leak numbers. Even the max number (1.2) was in the single digits (possibly for the first time!). What did it? Ace bandage wrapped head to chin and over my mouth, Breathe Right nasal strip, saline nasal rinse (NeilMed SinuRinse bottle) and Zyrtec b...

Re: Cognitive impairment - Could it be non-optimal CPAP?

Hi folks, I have some more interesting data. So after SleepingUgly's suggestion, I went out to Walgreens and picked up one of those 2" Ace bandages (I got the kind with the clips because I thought it would be reusable; maybe this was a mistake because the clips are pretty annoying how they fall off ...

Re: Cognitive impairment - Could it be non-optimal CPAP?

Thanks, everybody! It's awesome to have suggestions from you guys! I've seen the psychiatrist twice Has your psychiatrist made a diagnosis yet and if not what is her opinion concerning your symptoms? After the first visit, she said that I had many ADHD-like symptoms but said that I don't qualify for...

Re: Cognitive impairment - Could it be non-optimal CPAP?

Thanks all, for the suggestions and ideas! I think I definitely at least to get a chinstrap or a PAPcap to try to keep my trap closed. I also think I might have ChinUp strips which I tried a while back and didn't notice enough improvement in a night or two to offset having to peel them off my face i...
