Re: skin care product ingredients---do I need to avoid these?
If a newborn babe can injest it how can it hurt an adult, as to the silicone on our masks there is no petroleum jelly in it. The question isn't whether lanolin (which is chemically speaking a kind of animal-derived wax ) will trigger a rash (lanolin usually doesn't do that for me), but rather which...

Uncle_Bob, I've got your link (thanks a bunch!), but have not yet downloaded the software since my hubby still has to get the computer that will be used for this set up. [That happens this weekend!] If I have trouble installing, will I be able to uninstall and then redownload the software a second t...

Re: Cat as mask alert
my almost 20 lb cat has a tendency to first start kneading my head and neck. It's kind of relaxing----until he decides that he wants to start shoving his weight around and tries to sit on my head.

Re: skin care product ingredients---do I need to avoid these?
I'll look for the Lanisoh. Does it have any added fragrance? Or is it fragrance free? As for the room humidifier suggestion. Might work once heating season is in full swing, but last night the outside temp was in the 70s and the relative humidity was around 60% or 70% and we DON'T have A/C. Miserabl...

skin care product ingredients---do I need to avoid these?
I've got to find something I can use on the *outside* of my nose, the bottom of my nostrils, the space between my nose and upper lip, and my lips to help with dry skin, irritation from both the silicone in the nasal pillows and the exhale air blowing on my lips, and (once winter comes) my wintertime...

Re: Vertigo with No Alcohol
I'm a ife-long spinner, so-to-speak, having had light-headed episodes and vertigo off and on most of my life. In my case I'm pretty sure it's not been caused by my apnea since the vertigo stuff long predates my one-and-only apnea symptom of severe snoring. The worst case of vertigo I ever had (about...

The good, the bad and the ugly---night 1
Last night was my first night on CPAP. The Good: The S9 Auto says my AHI was 0.5 with total AI = 0.5 (all OA). I didn't pull the mask off last night in my sleep. Once I got to sleep, I got some really nice sleep in the middle of the night. My sinuses liked the filtered air and they were NOT stuffed ...

Re: My CPAP adventure begins ....
First, Thanks for all the Mac-friendly ideas. I will look into them , but I'm still going to try to hold hubby to his promise to get one of our "dust collecting" PCs that's not doing anything set back up and running so that I can use that for my sleep data just in case I have trouble with the Mac id...

Re: What size bed do you have, and do you wish it was bigger?
I and my tall, handsome man have always slept in a full (usually with our very large cat). When we've had the opportunity to sleep in queens or kings I feel like I'm lost and there's a sea of room between us. I'm just starting out with CPAP, though, and we'll have to see if things change. [And if th...

Please consider getting the software so you can see the details on all your data. People post their data and graphs so that more experienced members can give suggestions on how to get more benefit out of therapy. Already have the link for the download from Uncle_Bob and I intend to install it soon ...

My CPAP adventure begins ....
The appointment with the RT at the DME went real well today: Had a very hard time choosing between the System One REMstar Auto and the S9 Auto. The S9 finally won out because it was a smidge quieter and the hum was at a pitch that bothered me less. Mask wound up being the Sift FX with small pillows....

Re: Any advice on chosing between these machines?
Hate to give business to the Evil Empire, but if I had a choice (I didn't), I'd have chosen the S9 over the PR S1 myself. Well, I haven't made the decision yet, but I'm leaning towards the S9. I guess I'll just pick and chose which Evil Empires to live with as a life-long Mac gal. [The PC that my C...

Can't help with most of your questions, but you do ask: puzzled by median -think thats middle average - 95 percentile ??? Median means the half-way point in the data: Half the values are below the median and half the values are above the median. It's not quite the same as the "average" or "mean" for...

Any advice on chosing between these machines?
I'll be picking out my CPAP machine on Thursday. The DME will let me chose between the following full data machines: 1) ResMed S9 AutoSet CPAP (+ the corresponding heated humidifier) 2) Philips Resprionics System One REMstar Auto CPAP (+ the corresponding heated humidifier) 3) Fisher and Paykel ICON...
