full face mask without forehead piece
to start I do not need input on sleep hygiene - am making this request with full knowledge and support of the specialist I am working with in regards to that. Has anyone had success with a full face mask that does not have a forehead piece. I would love to be able to put on the mask and read for a b...

Re: CPAP and blood pressure
my BP was creeping up just before i was officially diagnosed with OSA. when we discovered the OSA it was just before she had decided that if next reading was no better we were going medication route. had been on cpap for about 2 weeks when i saw her again, had lost 20 pounds and given up cigarettes ...

Re: How do we know that a OSA Dx isn't a scam?
i can only speak for me but here is my story - i knew for many years that if i slept on my back i would rouse with the sensation i couldn't breathe - blamed it on post nasal drip/sinuses. knew i snored - my whole family saws logs with the best of them (have yet to convince any of them to get tested)...

Re: SA an Stroke... Opinions welcome!
while the definitions of stroke given are correct as far as they go there is something to be aware of - one of the first things they taught us in physical therapy school was to not let the patient hold their breath - it is called the valsalva effect - when you hold your breath and strain the pressur...

Re: Update: Sleep doc, frustration with self
I will keep that idea on the back burner. My doc today suggested I try going to bed at midnight instead of 2 am, as I have done for years and years. I don't know. I don't want to hear that. I hate mornings and love night time. I am afraid a sleep hygienist will say the same thing. The idea of gettin...

Re: Update: Sleep doc, frustration with self
one thing you might do is see if your sleep doc can refer you to a specialist in behavioral sleep medicine - i believe i have also seen it referred to as a sleep hygienist. i started working with one when other fixes did not help and the broken sleep issue is gone for me and my quality of sleep has ...

Re: SA an Stroke... Please help!
i would think it would be an avenue to explore - i was told once that while the sleep apnea itself is not an inherited thing, the physical characteristic that can contribute to the problem are likely part of your inherited genes (hope i said that in an understandable way)

had to work on some issues recently so i should say - "when all factors are good i sleep well and feel good - when changes are needed i go back to sleeping like crap and feeling the same".

Re: Poll re: Sleeping Supine
i think i spend 99% of my time on my sides - long before i knew what sleep apnea was i knew i had difficulty on my back - what i now believe were apnea episodes. some recent problems led to another sleep study - before we did it we reviewed my past studies - never reached REM in supine - were concer...

Re: off topic DO YOU HAVE A CAT?

Re: Survey On How folks adapted to therapy
i had no trouble adapting to the cpap - i was so desperate for a decent nights sleep if you told me to stand on my head and whistle dixie i would have tried it - my challenge has been changes - had to go back a year ago for another study due to problems and found i needed a pressure adjustment. dud ...
