My grandmas nose starts running the minute the mask goes on.
My wife's grandmother just got a Cpap and says that she can't use it because her nose constantly drips once she puts the mask on. She says she's tried adjusting the humidity but that doesn't seem to help. She is just really frustrated with the whole Cpap thing and it doesn't seem like her doctors ar...

Re: Resmed S8 AutoSet VS. Resmed S9 AutoSet
Thanks for sharing Muse-Inc.!! I don't know why my numbers are so different from the S8 to the S9. Settings are all the same. I know that the S9 changed their algorithm so that its doesn't report so many HI's. But in my case, it not only decreases my HI's but increases my AI's. With my S8, I almost ...

Resmed S8 AutoSet VS. Resmed S9 AutoSet
I've had both of these machines for about a year now. I know that Resmed has made changes to the S9 in their algorithms. On mine, I've noticed that the S9 does not nearly have as much Hypopneas as with the S8. But I've also noticed that the S9 reports a lot more AI's than the S8. Has anyone else not...

Re: Anyone take Nuvigil?
I don't think Provigil has a generic either and if I heard right, it won't for a while. Still really expensive.SleepingUgly wrote:You could try Provigil/Modafinil. The duration of action may be a bit shorter than Nuvigil (or not), but it's derived from the same molecule.

Re: Anyone take Nuvigil?
Talk to your doctor and see if he thinks it would be a good idea for you to try Concerta instead. I had tried Nuvigil for a while but it did not work for me. And even if it had, I would be in your shoes and would not be able to afford the medication. Concerta is actually a stimulant for ADHD but is ...

Long Term damage done to the brain from Sleep Apnea
I just visited a new sleep doctor today and mentioned to him that I was diagnosed about three years ago with sleep apnea and that cpap had never helped me increase my activity level. I have tried everything with tweaking my pressures (through doctors orders) and my treatment is good. Anyway, he ment...

Re: Welbutrin to stay alert
Just thought I would share my story and experience. I have been on cpap for 3 years and my numbers have been pretty good. I am still tired all the time and I even went back for another sleep study last year to see if there was anything the sleep doctors were overlooking. Nothing showed up and they t...

Re: Newbie S9 User
The S9 Escape is a compliance only machine. If you can, go back to where you got it and insist on an S9 Elite or S9 Autoset. Those two are the ones that a fully data capable.

Re: Advice requested regarding CPAP pressure setting.
Regardless whether you use EPR or not, keep it the same. I would probably set my pressure at 11 for about a week or so and see if that makes a difference.
Best of Luck!!

I'm not a doctor but that sounds to me like your pressure should be dropped instead of increased.

Could food Sensativities be causing my fatigue?
I've been on Cpap for 2.5 years and am still tired all the time. My osa is under control according to my data. I am just wondering if any of you know anything about food sensativities? My wife and I have been reading quite a bit about it and have read that one of the side effects can be constant fat...

Re: Washing headgear
I have been of cpap for 2.5 years now and have never cleaned my headgear. Of coarse I haven't had the same mask for that entire time. Washing the headgear, I think, is more wear and tear than just leaving it alone. I might change my mind, however, if I looked at my straps under a microscope.

I'll be 36 the end of this month and I've been on cpap since November of '08.

Re: Apnea readings higher over the past few months.
My titrated pressure is 10. I originally set my auto to a minimum of 10 with an upper limit wide open to 20. As I said in my previous post, most nights my ahi consistantly was recorded as centrals. Now, I realize that its not necessarily centrals and I had no report of them in either of my sleep stu...

Re: Apnea readings higher over the past few months.
Hi, I've been on CPAP since March 2010. It's been a long road but over the past couple months I can honestly say I've been feeling better. Less fatigue and more good days than not so good. My year averages look like this: AHI 2.4, TAI 1.6, CAI 1.4. ; 6 mo. Avr: 2.7, 2.5, 2.0; 3 mon. Avr: 3.2, 3.1, ...
