Re: Back after a while away .. need help with software.
Thanks .... I somehow expected that Respironics did that with their software and interface. Where is the “safest” place to DL Sleepyhead? Also, even the newer machines have the “original” SD cards in them? I didn’t know those things existed these days. Will a newer SDHC reader be back compatible? I ...

Back after a while away .. need help with software.
Hi. I haven’t been to the board in a long while - I guess I got complacent - but stayed compliant. I have a few APAP machines (all Respironics). I have to keep at least one as backup as my dogs get skunked twice a year filling the house with this vapor that takes about 2 months to fully evaporate. T...

Re: OT Hilarious Insurance Payment
The article doesn't mention tort reform - don't you think the high cost of malpractice, and paying massive costs of lawsuits, has a lot to do with healthcare costs? I haven't kept up in recent years but about 20 years ago, liability insurance for a single practitioner OBGYN was in excess of $300K p...

The article doesn't mention tort reform - don't you think the high cost of malpractice, and paying massive costs of lawsuits, has a lot to do with healthcare costs? I'm not sure that tort reform is a big influence in the overall cost of medical care. It may be, but I have not heard of much concern ...

Re: OT Hilarious Insurance Payment
It was a great article. There are a few more I've seen. Basically they all show how we haven't really addressed the major issues surrounding the health care system in the USA.photonic wrote: This is an absolutely fantastic piece of journalism on this topic and extremely eye opening. Highly recommended.

Re: OT Hilarious Insurance Payment
One of the bigger problems today with the costs of medical care is the fact that the "list price" for goods and services are severely hyper-inflated. Those $10 aspirins are really much more common than you think. Now that we have this "wonderful" ACA (aka Obamacare) insurance, providers have simply ...

Re: Post surgery
Well, I had the reverse problem. I had all the excess tissue removed from my throat and lower palette by a laser. It was done in 1997, and now they do surgery. They removed a lot of tissue. The Dr at the time looked into my nose and must have seen a deviated septum and enlarged turbinates - but said...

Re: Sleepyhead vs. Encore Basic?
I'm fairly sure SleepyHead runs fine on Win8.1?? At least does ok on my test Win8.1 Virtual Machine... or am I missing something? Edit: Doh.. Missed arch's comment about the SD card issue.. :-} Always remember to lock the SDcard no matter the OS to protect compliance data.. Do I need to lock card i...

Re: Sleepyhead vs. Encore Basic?
Thanks, I downloaded a copy of Sleepyhead. I think I'll put it on one of my Windows 7 laptops (actually my only windows 7 laptop). I'm not thrilled with the Windows 8.1 machines, but it just isn't worth downgrading to Windows 7.

Re: Need Advice on a new machine
Clarification - for 60 series: 1. There is a particular model of heated humidifier for the PRS1 that does not have the heated hose option... it's a current model. 2. There is another particular model of heated humidify for the PRS1 that can be used with or without the heated hose option. It's usual...

Re: Need Advice on a new machine
Thanks. Probably best to get the newer model. I think the discounted price difference is less than $25.

Sleepyhead vs. Encore Basic?
Can anyone help me? Which one of these programs is better - in your opinion? Also, which one will work (and install easily) on a PC Windows 8.1? Finally, when can I get these? Thanks much!

Re: Need Advice on a new machine
Excuse my confusion, (I did get a good night's sleep last night too) -- a PR S1 Series 60 can use a regular (standard) non-heated hose? There are the older PR S1's still out there for sale, but I am now thinking that it might be best to have a newer model with a newer firmware, etc. The price is onl...
