Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
I like the IntelliPap quite a bit, though am now finding myself using the S9 more and more. The primary reason for this is the IP is louder. Here is my list of suggestions - based on what the IP already does well. Basic Functions: * Lowest decibel level possible - the quieter, the better. Software: ...

Re: Trade/Loan/Wanted Items Topic Under "Announcements"?
Yeah - lack of categories and stickies is annoying, isn't it?jonnybee wrote:Is it feasible to have such a topic under "Announcements" so that the topic would always be available on the home page? Otherwise, items get buried and probably not viewed after a couple of days unless one does a search. Just an idea.

Re: DeVilbiss DV54 Auto Adjust CPAP
Where di you come up with 4-20 cm pressure range? If you have been using 10 straight CPAP, I think you are going to find that an extremely uncomfortable range. This machine also has a demonstrated tendency to 'run away' with pressure if the minimum pressure is set too low. If I were you, I would co...

You can post photos here -- http://tinypic.com/, if you don't mind the convoluted workflow of using ANY third-party hosting site.

Re: S9 versus Intellipap>> opinions
engrdad, Glad you asked your question! I'm in the same position of figuring out which to get and having met my deductible this year. Also looking at Intellipap Auto vs. S9 (or even S8) autoset. I hope you don't mind me tagging onto your thread with a couple questions. brain_cloud: I heard the Resca...

Re: S9 versus Intellipap>> opinions
Sincere thanks for the input. After reading the replies and associated posts, I believe I will go for the S9 Autoset. I would like to request one more bit of information. When I originally got my first machine, someone (perhaps RestedGal) posted the specific information that should be on the script...

Re: Question about how the S9 scores hypopneas
Did you notice the word fixed in the above suggestion? Do you agree, DHC, that this may be one way of having therapy at pressure lower than the intolerable 9, higher that a minimun of 7, and avoiding the arousals caused by changing pressures? Do you agree that EPR=2 at fixed pressure may give robys...

Re: What if you have mostly hypnopeas and not apneas?
As for the O2, I totally disagree with your PCP that O2 is the primary determinant of the severity of your apnea. It is usually, in my opinion, an important secondary indicator of the severity. Just my humble opinion. RD, Maybe you could expound on the O2 data/metric uses over in this topic -- http...

Pulse/Oxygen Metrics
I am curious if anyone has suggestions for which of the metrics collected from recording your pulse/oxygen levels overnight are the most *useful* to you - and why/how are they used?

From this link -- http://www.clevelandclinicmeded.com/medicalpubs/diseasemanagement/pulmonary/sleep-disordered-breathing/ comes this definition of Obstructive Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome (OSAHS): Definition OSAHS is characterized by recurrent episodes of partial or complete airway obstruction duri...

Re: Johnny and Carolyn have lost control
Re: Johnny and Carolyn have lost control I am unaware of their ever attempting to assert control. Their approach has been clearly stated a number of times. For example: http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=20895&p=179739#p179739 My approach to moderating cpaptalk is well known. Here's the ba...

Re: Question about how the S9 scores hypopneas
Robysue, ResMed's don't respond to hypopneas, be they S8 hyponpnea, or by they S9 hypopneas. So the scoring of those is not really relevant to the quality of therapy you are getting. Resmed's do respond - aggressively - to flow limitations, but those have to happen in order of the machine to respon...

Re: Question about how the S9 scores hypopneas
But to re-iterate, my question is this: Given the following facts: my known OSA problem is lots of hypopneas with arousal based on my diagnostic sleep study, my S9 data says my AHI is usually well less than 1.0, my daytime sleep apnea symptoms have gotten WORSE (not better) since starting CPAP, and...

Re: S9 versus Intellipap>> opinions
Well, my Respironics M Series APAP finally crapped out after 3 years. I travel a good bit and was thinking of trying a different machine. I have narrowed it down to the Resmed S9 or the Intellipap after doing some web research. Would like to get some opinions (pros/ cons, etc) from you ladies and g...
