Re: sleep lab results, this forum and the Canadian health system
I don't see how waiting 6 weeks is an "acceptable" compromise. You stop breathing during the night, wake up 100s of times and have O2 desaturation to unlivable levels. Anyone of those nights during the 6 weeks could be the last. I couldn't wait to get my cpap after my sleep study. I went to the DME ...

Re: HELP! Has anyone had Septoplasy and turbinate reduction
I had septoplasty done as well for deviated septum along with turbinate reduction. Wand colbalation. I also had my sinuses roto rooted and my tonsils/adnoids removed. As far as recovery, I really don't think the nasal surgery caused much pain, as most of it was due to the tonsils. I wounldn't expect...

Re: How do we know that a OSA Dx isn't a scam?
Gasping for air is an indicator of OSA, not the indicator. Prior to my tonsil.adnoid.nasal surgery I snored like a freight train. After; my wife said I was "scary quiet", yet still had an AHI of 27 (consisted of all hypopneas).
YMMV

Re: tonsillectomy next week, any advice?
acetaminophen and hydrocodone In that combination, acetaminophen is the pain killer. Hydrocodone has some anesthetic property to it, but its chief roll is to enhance the ability of the acetaminophen to do its job. I was under the impression its the other way around, acetaminophen enhances the effec...

Re: tonsillectomy next week, any advice?
Ask for pain meds and tylenol separate. What kind of pain meds don't contain acetaminophen??? I would be very careful about this advice. Many Rx pain meds contain acetaminophen, and it is easy to take a toxic dose of that, so don't be doing that without telling your doctor what you want to do. You ...

Re: tonsillectomy next week, any advice?
I had mine out in this past April (among other things). Drink, drink, drink. If you have to breathe through your mouth, wake up every hour or so and drink. Ask for pain meds and tylenol separate. That way you can take them at alternating times. Also try doing a shot of liquid tylenol about 1/2 hour ...

Re: ONE NIGHT WITHOUT XPAP!!!!
I can relate. There have been times where i must have taken off my mask during the night (maybe 4 hours in) and feel great 2 hours later when I wake up. But wear it a full 7 hours the next night and feel like crap in the morning...odd. Oh you too! Isnt that odd? I dont know why that is. Do you have...

Re: numbness in fingers
Same here. What fingers get numb? Carpal Tunnel Syndrome the thumb and index get numb. Cubital Tunnel (elbow) is the other 3 esp ring and pinkie. For me it also happens when I drive (elbows bent on armrests) and sometimes when sitting and watching TV. When you sleep make sure your hands aren't bend ...

Re: PR S1 Data Card Replacment Question
Thank you. I was just wondering if there was any advantage or not. I really appreciate the replies, guys. And now, another question. Can I just stick in in the PR S1 and expect it to do its job or is there some formatting or something that I need to do?? I got a cheapo sandisk 2GB. Stuck it in and ...

Re: PR S1 Data Card Replacment Question
I think it would be overkill to buy anything larger. Each night with my PR1 Pro is about 100-200KB. It would take a few years to fill 2 GB.

Re: How do you determine the right CPAP machine.
I can only tell you the _wrong_ PAP machine since I don't know your situation.
A non-data capable machine.
Whatever you get insist on a data capable one. Something that goes above and beyond basic compliance data (avg hours used).

Re: Just feel like whining....
OAs, CA, Hypops....in one way or another they all do the same thing. 02 desaturation. The OAs and CAs do it faster, since they are either complete blockages or just no airflow. Hypopneas is a 50-80% reduction in airflow. Its all still OSA. In business, cash is king. Here; 02 is king. No matter how a...

Re: Trial of new machine and need Encoreviewer
Can Encoreviewer 2.0 for Remstar Pro, view the bipap data?
If so send me an email (andyw715 at gmail dot com) and you can email the files to me, I'll run them through Encoreviewer and send you back the PDF's.
