I don't know if being on xPAP contributes to higher IOP but I do know that higher IOP is not caused by blood pressure within the eye. It's caused by an inability to properly drain the fluid from within your eye. I've been on CPAP for 11 years AND I was diagnosed as glaucoma suspect 3 years ago. Stil...

I've had some amount of sinus/nasal congestion the entire time I've been using CPAP (11 years). A couple of years ago, I went to see the ENT about it. He said I had a deviated septum (left side) and that "might" be causing the problem and surgery "might" fix it. When I asked him what he would do in ...

I agree rested gal. It WAS like breathing into an empty hose. It took 2 nights to get used to the feeling of not having to fight with the pressure. I hope I never have to use my old PAP as a backup.

I don't know what Respironics considers the average life span of a CPAP to be, but I just replaced my Remstar Choice after 11 years...and it's still working. However, after reading all the great things about the newer machines on this forum, I decided it was time for another sleep study and a data c...

Wow! That's a long time. Not sure how long my machine will last but I'm still using my original CPAP and HH after nine years. It's a REMStar Choice with FP HC100 humdifier - no smartcard, no CFlex, just ramp.

Billy, I can't speak to the Comfortlite 2 or Aura as I use the Adam Circuit headgear, but believe it or not, my first set of Breeze nasal pillows lasted nine years...yes, I said nine years. I just ordered a new set (large - pale green) from cpap.com about a month ago. I would probably still be using...

If your insurance will pay 100%, it's a no brainer IMO. Can you guarantee that you'll be at the same company 5 years from now or even that if you are, you will be offered the same great insurance? My employer's insurance plan changes about every 2 years. Sometimes they improve the plan, but most of ...

If you don't need your Activa right away you might try using a hospital grade disinfectant on it. It's called Control III Disinfectant. The sleep clinic I got my equipment from started me using it. I've been using it for about nine years and it hasn't hurt me or the equipment. You can order it over ...

Apparently I haven't been on CPAP therapy long enough. The only interface I have after 9 years is an Adam Circuit with nasal pillows. I'm not sure that even qualifies as a mask.

RedThunder94, Funny you should ask. I never thought to look. The LCD on the back of the machine says 14,841.7 hrs. Guess that works out to be about 4.5 hrs a night for 9 years. Of course there were days I didn't/couldn't use it... I received absolutely no directions or advice on using my CPAP. Didn'...

Actually, I just replaced my original hose, Adam circuit headgear and nasal pillows this month. I just wanted to add my 2 cents about the tap water vs...

You're certainly not alone with having problems in adjusting to sleeping with CPAP. I'm a 9 year veteran and I still have problems some nights. I still wake up at times in a panic, feeling like I can't breath. The best advice I can offer is to not beat yourself up when you don't make it all night wi...
