Re: CSA and CPAP
Thanks for the reply and the explanation. I couldn't see how a CPAP would have any effect on central sleep apnea. I don't have CSA. At least i wasn't originally diagnosed with it. I was diagnosed with severe OSA 5 mos. ago. I have had great success with my CPAP. As I was dropping off to sleep last n...

CSA and CPAP
Hi all. Been away for a while. I have a question. How does CPAP therapy work with CSA or does it? If this subject has been broached before could someone please post a link for me?
Thanks.
Maggie

Re: POLL: How Have You Handled The Ramp Setting On Your Machine?
Well, I can't change my vote now, but after reading how several of you either never used the ramp or no longer use it I decided to try a night without it. The first gush of air was a bit much but I kept breathing on through and got very comfortable with the pressure very quickly. I've used no ramp f...

Re: How does your boss treat you concerning CPAP?
Your boss is not very bright. Making comments like that to you whether in private or in front of others is creating a "hostile work environment" for you and you have rights against that! I don't know if you work for a large or small company or whether there is a Human Resources office but you do not...

Re: POLL: How Have You Handled The Ramp Setting On Your Machine?
My ramp setting was set by the DME and I've left it that way. I use it every night when I first turn the CPAP on. A few times I thought maybe I would use it without the ramp but that first gush of air is too much right off the bat so I end up turning the ramp on. I should add that I am still in the ...

Re: Charges to obtain my own medical records
Snail mail is how mine will be coming. I have to go to the sleep doctors office in person and fill out a request, and the copy comes to me in 2 weeks in the mail.

Re: Charges to obtain my own medical records
Some here on the forum have been aboe to exchange their basic machine for a fully data capable machine if they try within the first 30 days after receiving it. Maybe you can do that or do you mean that you are in the process of trying to do that? Yes, I am in the process of trying to upgrade machin...

Re: Charges to obtain my own medical records
You will need a data capable machine and software so that you can monitor days and weeks of therapy to see how it is going and only with that can you make appropriate adjustments to your therapy as you proceed. I don't know if your machine shows anything but compliance ( how long and how often you ...

Re: Charges to obtain my own medical records
What you want is the full SCORED data SUMMARY report which runs from 5 to 8 pages. They've misunderstood just what it is you want. Very few patients have the savvy to ask for these reports so the sleep lab office staff often don't have a clue what you are asking for except as Den described, the pag...

Re: Charges to obtain my own medical records
Den, The night of my sleep study and also the day I saw my sleep doc for the results of the study they said they collected like 1000 pages of data during the study. I know I don't need all of that and perhaps all of that isn't available to me, but it must be pretty large to charge 2.00 dollars for t...

Charges to obtain my own medical records
I called my sleep doc just now to get copies of my sleep study results. I was told it would cost me two dollars for the first 20 pages and then 20 cents a page after that. OK fine. I know this is a massive report, times are bad, paper costs money. I guess 2 dollars isn't that big a price to pay. 2 q...

Re: Can medication make sleep apnea worse?
Perhaps the Somnodent is no longer working? I do sympathize with you. I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and have been using a CPAP for nearly a month, so the memory of sleep deprivation and what it does to you is very fresh in my mind. I have noticed such a huge improvement now in how I feel d...

Re: Can medication make sleep apnea worse?
Hmmm. I'm not sure your sleep problems are related necessarily to Diovan. I do think taking the Diovan has caused you some problems, but I think the apnea is an issue unrelated. What sort of oral appliance are you using to treat your apnea, Did you have a sleep study that verified your mild/ moderat...

Re: Can medication make sleep apnea worse?
How long were you on the Diovan and how long ago did you stop taking it? Diovan can cause high blood potassium levels. A high blood potassium can cause fatigue and worst case scenario, arrythmia. You should have a blood test to check your potassium level. Your blood pressure was really only borderli...

Re: CPAP EMBARRASSMENT WHILE NAPPING IN CAR
My husband and I just recently returned from a 12 hour straight road trip. How I wish I'd had a battery pack on my CPAP so I could have used it to nap. As it was I napped and woke every few minutes either snoring or gasping. I felt worse than if I hadn't napped at all. Let other travelers look. So w...
