Re: Will i really get use to this?

Welcome, and you've come to the right place for support. I couldn't see how I would get used to this, but it really only took about two weeks. Now I wear a chinstrap as well, which also doesn't draw on my attention. When I had my sleep study, I used a full face mask like yours. It really helped when...

Success!--Supplemental O2 over ASV

It's taken me a while to post again, as work has extremely busy and my last sleep study raised some issues that needed to sort out. I had a second sleep study on the 13th, which was intended to test the effectiveness of Cpap plus supplemental oxygen and an ASV titration. I was very hopeful for the A...

Re: ASV users- what mask works best?

Thanks for the comments. It sounds like I could be in the market for a new mask after tomorrow night. John, it looks like I'll be good and tired for the study. I've been on CPAP 8cm for the last 4-5 nights. It hasn't been working too well, my AHI has been rising (21 last night), and each night it's ...

ASV users- what mask works best?

I am scheduled for a sleep study with an ASV machine this Wednesday. In my last thread, http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t56271/Success-ASV-study-next-week-craziness-too.html , JohnBFisher wrote about the high pressures that these machines can generate. I've read that some of these machines require...

Snnnark- I get a chuckle every time I see one of your posts. My last name is Schnarch, pronounced Snarsh. I've spent my entire life listening to people pronounce my name just like yours

Success! ASV study next week, craziness too

My thanks to all that have helped with my posts, and this forum that has helped me learn so much, and hold my own in the story that follows. It's been a crazy week, with my work load ramped up higher than my typical AHI in the mid to high teens, and me feeling worse by the day. Monday I had a conver...

Re: help with oximetry report, please

Flash2, thanks for your comment. If the Trazadone is a known problem, I'd like to know. I took a quick look on the web, and found these two comments in different reports. This one on SleepTalk : At the least, there has so far been no clinical indication of trazodone aggravating sleep apnea, and its ...

Re: help with oximetry report, please

Thanks for everyone's comments. Seeker, I've considered the possible role of my sleeping pills (Trazadone, 75mg). I've dealt with insomnia for years, and have been on the pills for long stretches of time. When I was diagnosed with apnea, I began to wonder how much of the insomnia was due to apnea ar...

Re: help with oximetry report, please

Snnnark, thanks for the comments. The rebreathing concept is interesting, and I applaud your inventiveness in pursuing it. For me, I'm going to follow thru with my docs a bit more before trying anything else. By following your link I learned alot, especially the thread started by phorts and it's rel...

Re: Periodic Breathing

The definition in the link is above is a pretty good one, but it isn't only associated with high altitude climbing. It has to do with the brains mechanism for sensing CO2 levels in the blood, and deciding whether it needs to breathe in other to throw off excess CO2 . Sometimes a cyclical pattern sta...

Re: Camping CPAP, again.

I've got an Everest3 machine that has an integrated battery pack which can charge off 110v, and I bought an additional 12v converter that plugs into a cars cigarette lighter. It runs at least one night on a charge, most times 2 nights at 9cm. It's nice and compact, but the main drawback is it only d...

Re: help with oximetry report, please

M.D. & SWS, thanks for the help. I found Dr. Krakow on the web, and will read about his program. Inquiring minds want to know, so without comments from anyone else, I played around in Photoshop with the charts, and came up with the image below. Maybe this is no news to anyone else, but I found it in...

help with oximetry report, please

Hello again, all. I'd like some help interpreting an oximetry study that was done a few nights ago after my settings were changed to straight cpap at 9cm. Previous discussion of my treatment is at http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=55279&st=0&sk=t&sd=a . This forum is a life-line, maybe the...

Encore Webinar on Complex Apnea, Bipap ASV

I viewed the webinar on Encore chart interpretation that was mentioned on this forum, at http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t55738/Encorepro-2--question.html . I thought it was excellent, and very informative. Everyone using EncoreViewer should see it. Thanks to those who posted it. I poked around a ...

Re: Interpretation-periodic breathing and CA events

SWS, thanks for your continued interest and support. Your explanation seems right to the point. I agree an ASV titration would be best, but while I am working towards that, I'll pay attention to what you suggest.
