Re: Moisturizing Lotion?
Sorry to drag up this REALLY old post, but some months ago I was having dry skin problems corresponding to where my face mask rests. It didn't make sense, but after searching the internet I briefly skimmed this tread and read "Afta" by Mennen, the after-shave lotion. I ordered a few bottles from Ama...

Re: Third Party Humidifier
Thanks for the tips. I wil PM Rested Gal as suggested. I also like the ice cube idea - simple and low-tech (and cheap). And I had just mentally blocked the notion of a passive, passover humidifier until archangel's very good explanation. I'll consider that as well (although with all those baffles it...

Re: Third Party Humidifier
Neither of those ring a bell, although I admit the name "Fisher * Paykel" is certainly unique. I want to say it has a nickname like "Zombie" or "The Alligator" or similar. Regardless of what I'm remembering, does any company make a humidifier that blows COOL, moist air? I have a couple of whole-room...

Re: Cleaning the H5i resevior
I recently bought the "cleanable" resevoir, which has the removable top. Mostly I've been able to clean it with a sponge, but a few times I used the vinegar trick and it worked great. I use bottled water, though not distilled, so that maybe the source of the minerals.

Third Party Humidifier
About a year ago, I read on these forums about a third party humidifier that was compatible with most brands of CPAP. The point which interested me was that it could provide cool moist air, and not heated moist air (which I hate). I also failed to make note of this information, since it had a unique...

Re: Forgot Filter - Did I Damage Anything?
Thanks everyone. To clarify, I was asking about the machine, not me!

Forgot Filter - Did I Damage Anything?
In preparation for a vacation, I was cleaning my hose and mask, and took off the filter to clean. I forgot to reinstall the filter, and didn't realize it until the last day of my vacation. Obviously I was breathing un-filtered air, but other than that, does unfiltered air do any damage to the machin...

Re: Suddenly Swallowing Air
I'll try that. I believe I some Zantac, which I've used from time to time. Can't hurt to try. Yeah, I could believe I have a tiny, tinycase of GERD.

Re: Suddenly Swallowing Air
I can't say I have GERD (from what I briefly read). I do have, from time to time, a little bit of acid refulx, usually when I eat a large "western" meal. For some reason, eating Korean food doesn't give me that feeling. But, nothing I could correlate with this past week. I have a nasal mask, sleep i...

Suddenly Swallowing Air
Been using CPAP for about 9 months now, quite satisfied so far. I had a little trouble in the very beginning swallowing air, but using a chin strap solved that. Now suddenly, in the past week, I've started swallowing air even with the chin strap. I am sure it's not due to the chin strap slipping, be...

Re: Extreme Dryness
Good suggestions. I do use a nasal mask. I also use a chin strap to help with the mouth breathing, because when I first used the CPAP I was swallowing a LOT of air each night. That isn't a problem anymore, but maybe I am breathing some through my mouth and don't know it. I agree that I probably have...

Re: Should cpaptalk Be Divided Into Categories or Subsections?
Absolutely, I think sections are a must. I actually don't visit here as often as I would, simply because it is so disorganized. I agree with a previous poster, every other forum I belong to has categories, and I find them very useful and a necessity. it seems I might be in the minority, however. I w...

Re: Extreme Dryness
still no joy for me. i wonder if there is something wrong with my humidifier. Wake up during the night with really dry mouth and throat. Like the previous poster, I'm always drinking water. My apartment itself is pretty dry, but with the addition of two heavy duty humidifiers, I've brought the room ...

Re: Extreme Dryness
study the handbook to get a clear idea of how the humidifier operates needless to say, if the water level doesnt go down, its not working Thanks, Harry, I'll double-check the manual. I did go back and re-read it after a few days, but don't recall that it was very helpful. Good point about the water...

I've been meaning to ask this same question, but looks like it is a common thing, with an unknown cause. Very curious...
