Re: Lets talk about our avatars!

Mine is a characature of me holding a lobster and a glass of wine that was drawn by a dear friend for the t-shirts made for everyone that attended my 40th b-day/Lobsterfest campout. She gave me the original artwork as a gift. Some websites don't capture the whole image and only show the face though....

Re: OT - Curious how/why people chose their nickname / Avatar

My online avatar is the result of my 40th birthday party. A dear friend of mine and accomplished cartoonist drew this caricature of me holding a wine glass and lobster at our annual lobsterfest campout and had tee-shirts made of it for the birthday/lobsterfest that year.

Re: Firing a sleep medicine doc...how do YOU do it?

I am a non-confrontational person but I believe that if you don't tell someone what they are doing wrong how will they ever know? You do them a disservice by not saying something, a disservice both to the doctor and their other patients. Here is a copy of my letter: On 2010 Feb. 17 I was referred to...

Re: Does the S9 Autoset APAP treat centrals? Or just detect?

Hey Slartybartfast, I am a huge Douglas Adams fan! The S9 detects whether the event is obstructive or not by "puffing" and I have found that while the puffing is very subtle, it wakes me up enough for me to remember to breathe and I go right back to sleep. I have read somewhere on this forum that ev...

Re: Any S9 owners out there, I have a question

All my 'gear' is on a circuit breaker protected outlet strip that I simply turn off when I get up. Besides dousing the screen, I also don't like leaving my phone power supply and other stuff plugged in unattended as they can malfunction, melt and cause a fire hazzard.

Re: O2 Dissagreement with Doc. (long)

. . . what PFT is but the pulmonologist is . . . only looking at my sleep apnea. . . . Sorry about that, sdurbin. Abbreviations are easier to type. http://www.valleyhealthlink.com/upload/docs/Pulmonary%20Function%20Test.pdf My allergist (whom I fired) did similar breathing test, before and after an...

Re: O2 Dissagreement with Doc. (long)

snnnark: Hi, as stated, the Adj. Events/hr are as reported by the oximeter. M.D.Hosehead: I am ignoring outliers and therefore paying more attention to the overall SpO2 graph rather than the minimum SpO2. The difference in the graphs is startling. jnk: I don't know what PFT is but the pulmonologist ...

O2 Dissagreement with Doc. (long)

The story (so far): Patient’s Perspective: In 2010 Feb. an allergist diagnosed me with Obstructive Sleep Apnea and scheduled me for a sleep study. Based on confirmation of the diagnosis he prescribed CPAP. I reviewed the study report and some things did not add up. I didn’t think the test was very s...

Re: Oximeter recorded anxiety attack

Doc also asked me to stop alcohol for four weeks for Cholesterol reasons so I am on a binge tonight. I am marinating some coktail onions now. It is datenight so we might have some wine later. No worries, for me four drinks is a "binge"! I am Alpha-antitrypsin deficient so I can't drink much any way....

Re: Oximeter recorded anxiety attack

GP refused to look at the data. "I don't know about that stuff and I don't want to know about that stuff." I have a problem with your doctors. JG is right, PVC's are harmless. Atrial fibrillation is not. It's a cardiology question. It's not an emergency, but it is important to know which you have. ...

Re: Oximeter recorded anxiety attack

I also have pvc's and get them at night after a very long day at work (12 hours or more). I spoke to my cardiologist about them. I now take atenelol in the a.m. and in the pm just to keep a steady beat all the time. I have been known to have arythmias - usually skipped beats, but get the pvc's due ...

Re: Oximeter recorded anxiety attack

I downloaded the SpO2 and ApO2 Review software just now and it does not read the .SpO2 format. I will see if I can PM the file of interest to you.

Re: Oximeter recorded anxiety attack

No, I looked. My software only has .SPO2 files. Example: user_1_1_20101006055722.SpO2

Maybe I don't have the right software? Mine is called SpO2 Assistant and came with the CMS50E.

Re: Oximeter recorded anxiety attack

GP refused to look at the data. "I don't know about that stuff and I don't want to know about that stuff." He is more concerned with my diabetes and labs. He referred me to my Pulmonologist. I have an appointment with him coming up next month. There are some things I like about my GP and some things...

Re: Oximeter recorded anxiety attack

I just started making notes this year as an attack of this magnitude is so infrequent. Last nights episode ended an hour or two ago. Anxiety Attacks (shakes, rapid heart rate, physiological, no reason for fear) _____________________________________Omron BP & Pulse___Oximeter Date__________Time______...
