Re: BiPAP Titration Study Advice
That's really the fault of the sleep center. Mine was in a stand alone building and there was no noise at all. A proper sleep center will have sound deadening materials. Switch sleep centers. I was also told to take a tranquilizer before going to the study.

Re: Ladies and moisturizers
Yes, you're right, if you have a cream with ahas, glycolic, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or somesuch it does degrade the seal. I use a day cream which has spf 15, and a night cream, both of which are for acne, so they have strong ingredients in them. I too, messed up my first mask seal because I...

Re: Is it worth it to switch from Resmed S8 to S9 autoset
I have an S8, properly a ResMed Auto 25, and I pay nothing for it. My machine has more features, but I have CSA and my heart stopped a few times during the sleep study, so I need a special machine. It cost $2000. but I have wondered too if I should have the S9. The S9's main benefit seems to be the ...

Re: Allergies and CPAP Therapy
Yes, I have noticed this. On the Doctors, I saw how your sinuses get blocked by inflammation and it causes congestion. I have had chronic sinus problems, which seem to have gone away. I think the pressure forces them open and clears them out.

Re: afib and severe OSA
I am no heart doctor, but I would suggest you see a lung doctor or pulmonologist regaring your OSA. Mine turned out to be OSA and CSA and profound. During the sleep study, they titrate your levels and monitor everything. My heart actually stopped during the night. Those with high pressures are norma...

Re: Please HELP
Well, my understanding is that you should not be doing your own titration; that's what the sleep lab is for. I was also told that with a difference of more than 4, you would have a hard time breathing. So that may account for the bad sensation you had. I have also noticed (see my post) that the mach...

Blowing hot air
Has anyone else noticed that the machines blow out hot air? I mean that the bipap produces a significant increase in the temperature of the air blowing out of it, so much as to warm the hose, and the mask. Now that it's summertime, I never use the humidifier. Also, if I go to sleep with it >75 in my...

Re: Highest pressure ever
Goodness, how you digress! Anyway, I continue to wake up with chest pain, which quickly dissipates. I called to verify that my Rx is 21/17 but the machine I use displays 17-21. The machine will not let you set the one pressure over the other, so it can't be set up so your expiration is higher than i...

Re: How many here do not use a humidifier
I used it at first but I hate all that hot moist air. It makes me claustrophobic and I don't wake up with drymouth. I have an oxygen problem because I have central sa, and humid air carries less oxygen (because it is carrying water vapor). I also think that if you don't clean it out thorougly it can...

Re: Nose cushions are for low pressures
Just remember the old proverb, "Opinions are like backsides; everybody's got one." My experience is unique; your experience may vary. Thanks to the nay sayers, but I point out their tone, that they do not mention their own pressures (probably because they are low), or they use face masks. My intenti...

Many thanks for your reassurances and advice. I actually cut some of my nose hairs yesterday. It was slightly better last night. I will try the nose rubbing.

Re: OT: Skechers Shape-ups
Personally, I don't sleep with shoes on, but if it helps your sleep apnea, and you lose weight, I say go for it! I also like Roster's post. Does anyone remember the wooden sandals Dr. Scholl used to sell that were supposed to firm behinds? They looked so painful.
