Just replaced S9

Hey, gang. Good morning.

Old machines. Keep it as a backup, or try to sell it? I have a 2010 S9 Elite CPAP with H5i humidifier. Heck, I even have some pillows, air filters, and hose.

Would need new water chamber and (for sanitary sake) headgear.

Re: Has anyone tried using Vicks vapor rub for congestion?

I've not put any Vicks petroleum jelly near the mask, but we had a Vicks cream once. Worked with my pillows fine. Since nasal pillows are a 2-week replacement, not a problem.

Never thoughts of leaving it near the intake. That's a cool (get it?) idea!

I understood what you meant Lucy. And on a lot more serious note, you might interested in this article about how more deaths are caused by psych meds than heroin. http://www.rehabs.com/pro-talk-articles/psychiatric-medications-kill-more-americans-than-heroin/ And just so people know, I am not anti ...

Re: nasal congestion

I was on Afrin nasal spray (which is physiologically addictive) for over 2 years before suffering through a few nights without it. Before getting my nasal mask (and my first CPAP, ResMed S9). I was miserable with that mask (Mirage Fx) because I couldn't get any air. An ENT advised me to have my turb...

Re: Has anyone tried using Vicks vapor rub for congestion?

I get stuffy nose all the time. A nasal mask was insufficient for me. Pillows works better for me and forces the air into my nostrils. Perhaps a mask change is due for you?

Re: Stupid questions from a beginner

95% isn't really accurate. Consider 95 percentile. This is about a statistical normal curve, also called the "bell curve". If you line up each minute of your use of your machine during the night and the leak rate for each of those minutes, you would have a nice graph. Smallest to largest leak rate. ...

Re: Battery Recomendations

I looked at the 1000' extension cord option but there would be isolation issues - it would have to be even longer or cross several trails and be an eyesore. Buried conduit across trails? Clip the end off and pull the cable through at each trail, then bury the conduit. When you get to the cabin, she...

Re: Can CPAP cause depression/anxiety?

I happened to take to cpap 'like a fish to water,' but didn't (and don't) want others to think I can't appreciate the struggles they go through. You make really great points also- a lot depends on your ' luck with the DME's, masks, machines, etc...' and the amount of understanding you have going in...

Re: Can CPAP cause depression/anxiety?

http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/depression/basics/definition/con-20032977 "Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest." It's so much more than a "feeling" of sadness. The sadness may be a part. But it's about the loss of interest, ap...

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use

I have the same discoloration in the metal on the bottom of my tub. Have used it for only 1 month with distilled water! Good to know that the dishwasher safe tub doesn't seem to have this problem. Mine is dishwasher safe and has the discoloring going on. Calling my DME in the morning. Only distille...

Re: Can CPAP cause depression/anxiety?

It's just that so many people with clinical depression - not to say by a mile that it applies to the OP - are told 'just pull up your socks, snap out of it... etc." but until you've 'been there', you can't know what it means... if it were that easy, if they could they would , the world would be a v...

Re: Can CPAP cause depression/anxiety?

ANY transition where life won't be the same tomorrow as it was yesterday is grief-worthy. The DSM-5 doesn't offer dispensation in the Dx criteria for Major Depressive Disorder for grief (which, in the DSM-IV-TR, was a 2 month period of time following significant loss of a loved one). However, there ...

Re: Memory issue

You all have been busy with the snark and spunk. I was wondering in all of that if anyone has found that, prior to treatment, they feel like their long term memory is shot. Perhaps some haven't answered yet. To those who offered insight, thank you. To everyone, happy sleeping and blessings. Be well.

Been using it 5.5 years. My memory is good now, but I can't remember a lot from BEFORE I was on therapy. I'm in my post grad period for my mental health counseling license and have been wondering for some time about the effect of OSA on memory. I was dxed in 2010, but probably have been suffering wi...

Re: Memory issue

I'll add that, when I meet someone new, I will use their name in conversation when I say it is nice to meet them and then at the end, reiterating that I hope they have a great day/evening. Repetition helps me. A lot.
